  • This Chapel is a stunning white, outside as inside, which gives him a very special charm. It dates from 1900 and it is associated to a convent. It is unfortunately part of the buildings on the street which is quite little wide at this place. It is located in the 16th arrondissement, at the No. 20 Street Cortembert to the West of the Trocadero. The façade is deliberately style neo Gothic with a large modern stained with flamboyant style structure and tent with rosette. The entrance of the chapel has a hall with columns and vault to warhead, under the canopy, with a staircase to the chapel on the left and also a staircase which gives access to a small chapel in the crypt. The style is similar to that of the main building. The Interior is surprisingly bright thanks to the polychrome stained-glass windows on the sides superiors of the nave, which are of modern style. The nave consists of side walls supported by round columns with capitals with floral patterns as in the roman style. But the openings are in broken bow. The whole is surmounted by a blind blind arcade incorporated of succession of bays with 3 deliberately arches of Romanesque style. The vault is an arc of warhead with large openings to stained-glass windows, which allow extensively in light. The whiteness of the walls gives the building an exceptional brightness. The chorus is simple style and the apse is in an arc with a series of bays blind with 3 arches, topped of stained-glass windows with lancets structure topped by a very successful Polygone oculus. The side chapels are in the same style neo Gothic romano! The organ of modern style is under repair. This Chapel is still occupied by the sisters servants of the Blessed Sacrament, who come to pray often. This religious society founded in 1856 by Father Pierre Julien Aymard, has a mission of welcome and prayers. It is accessible from the metro station "Pump Street" line no. 9 and then up the Mandel avenue to the Trocadero, take the third street on the right, the pastor Marc Boegner Street extended by rue Cortambert. From "Trocadéro" station lines 6 and 9 take the Mandel avenue. The chapel will be closed in July and August 2017, for work. Note most notifications already published on this property do not concern this Chapel but "The Holy chapel" on the island of the city, which has nothing to do!

  • One of the few places I have been speechless when entering. The first floor is a bit of an antechamber where you get an intro to the chapel and it's history. Once you ascend the stairs it's hard to pu...  more »
  • I was in Paris again and I know what I had not visited. I started the day may 6, Saturday, walking from my hotel in the direction of the Ile de la Cité. I bought a ticket to visit the Saint Chapelle, from the 13th century, and together, in the same area, the place that served as a prison for several prisoners in the French Revolution, called the Conciergerie. The most famous figure, who stuck to your death at the guillotine, Marie Antoinette was. There's a book with entries of those who passed through there. I couldn't read the message the Queen left her children. Very interesting your visits, but, without a doubt, visit the Saint Chapelle was magnificent. Most of the objects of this medieval chapel is today in the collection of the Museum of Cluny. Watch the beautiful stained glass windows of the chapel. Recommend!

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
