  • Stop in at this Paris landmark for an epic dessert. Avoid the "to-go" queue at the right side window (mostly tourists). Step through the doors on the left and sit at one of the green marble tables. Fo...  more »
  • It's crazy: Parisian since 1971, I had never been eating an ice cream at Berthilon. I just enjoy 3 and take 1 (+ big), and I assure you: it was a mistake that didn't go not earlier, mistake that I invite you to not to imitate. In addition, the environment is pleasant and nice service.

  • The next door cafe section is great place for a break while touring. Wonderful ice cream treats and also a bathroom.  more »

  • Worth the hype. The original location here has the biggest line. If you're just interested in getting the ice cream, the shops are all over the area and you can get it quicker elsewhere. But there's something about going to this flagship spot and (I can't believe I'm advocating for long lines) waiting, building the anticipation, for the ice cream. Creative flavors. I recommend getting a cone with at least two. The scoops are small, and you can try more that way. Good mix of ice cream and sorbet, but the ice cream takes center stage here.
  • Delicious ice cream. Probably the best I've ever had. I preferred the fruity flavours. Pricey but worth it. The portion is not large and they don't use filler. The ingredients are fresh and you can really taste it in the ice cream. The menu changes daily and they do run out of flavours. 6 euros to try 3 flavours. We went an hour before closing and had to wait about 15 minutes.
  • Everybody seems to recommend this .. Tried fig gelato with cone, very smooth, yet too sweet, overrated. Friend tried the passion fruit and love it. Will have to try more flavours for a fair comment.
  • So good. Named the best ice cream in Paris and I'm inclined to believe it's true! You can't taste any of the flavors - you have to trust that you'll like it. The scoops are fairly small compared to US sizes but still filling. Wild strawberries is their claim to fame. There is one side for takeaway and one to sit. The prices "sur place" are more. The shop is not open in the summer from what I've gathered. Always a line!
  • We saw a review somewhere that this was the "best ice cream in the world"and decided we'd be the judge of that. While I haven't tried every ice cream in the world, it's certainly the best I've ever had. The flavors are rich and intense and it's very creamy. Sure glad we went!

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
