Bastille Market, Paris
(4.4/5 based on 320+ reviews on the web)
One of the largest markets in the city, Bastille Market allows you to meet food producers and sample new flavors as you shop for top-quality food and drinks. You also can find plenty of unexpected items, including sewing machines, beeswax figurines, mousetraps, and more. It takes time to figure out how to navigate the market. Note that this is a rather expensive place to shop for typical grocery fare, but fresh food often comes at lower prices as the day goes on. Remember to ask before you take pictures. Most stallholders welcome you to photograph their produce, but many don't wish to be photographed themselves. Add Bastille Market to your Paris travel itinerary, and discover new vacation ideas by using our Paris trip builder.

  • We took quite a detour during a day trip to Paris to check out this market. It was small and had some great fresh food options, however it wasn't what we expected. There were a lot of the same clothes...  more »
  • We took too long to get there and they were packing up at 1.00pm. I think it would be much better to go early in the morning
  • The market is a wonderful collection of fruit, vegetable, cheeses, breads, etc all displayed along the road leading to the end of Bastille. It is there on a Thursday and Sunday and is well worth a vis...  more »
