Baccarat, Paris

3.6
#75 of 148 in Museums in Paris
For a unique museum experience, visit Baccarat, which is based around major works produced for the World Fair. In addition, each time, Baccarat gained the highest distinction with gold medals or grand prizes. You will be awed by the display of crystal that shows the technical and stylistic developments that have earned Baccarat its reputation.

Furthermore, this venue welcomes you into one of its last Parisian storehouses of the 19th century. The museum contains displays of fine glass work, including vases, dishes, and stemware; limited-edition collections created by noted designers Georges Chevalier, Ettore Sottsass, Roberto Sambonet, Van day Truex, and Marcial Berro; and pieces commissioned for heads of state, royal, and imperial courts. There are even pieces created for the Emperor of Japan, the Prince of Wales, and Josephine Baker. • Who at home a Versailles or a Herrenchiemsee, possibly a to equip Burj al Arab with crystal chandeliers and glass, is right here. "Fire" is a small red crystal in each chandelier. A trip through the centuries of glass art in designed areas. Wise leadership with a broad historical background. Charming presentation with brutal style of Philipp Starck enters the rooms, they were used by Stanley Kubrick for Barry Lyndon and Buñuel's golden age or abused. All in the family-owned. It is still an order on the tables, in which the Romanovs were prevented, to pick them up, obowhl paid in advance! Alone two glass red pot, flawlessly carved by a master in two years by taking away that which does not fit to the subject, are worth visiting. He left his name in the works. Absolutely worth mentioning: A display case with red Negroni glasses and "a" right recipe. However the value of two of these glasses about 37 Negronis at a good bar. And clear glass is also red with Negroni! You can, but you have not really big, then in the Crystal room dining.

  • Excellent restaurant, the prices are modest, affordable, friendly service, home perfect. You can finish the dinner while visiting the Museum. Excellent address. I recommend this restaurant.

  • I have been to Paris around 7-8 times and was looking for something different to see/do rather than the big museums. The Baccarat Musee is small, but with a carefully curated collection of spectacular pieces. There is a film that highlights the craftsmanship involved. My entire visit lasted around 1 hour, fee was 10 Euros in 2016, I would say that $5-6 Euros is probably more what is fair given the size of the Musee. TIP: if you go in the morning or late afternoon (before/after lunch service), ask if you can view the Cristal Room on the 2nd floor (tres chic French restaurant designed by Philippe Stark), and make a stop in the washrooms as well. Probably the most beautiful ones I have seen! Kudos to all the staff in the Musee and Boutique, all were charming and made me feel welcome. Buy something from the boutique for a wonderful (albeit pricey) memento of your trip to Paris.
  • Tiny museum, but very beautiful.
  • cool
  • It was a nice Art Museum has lots of gorgeous chandelier. The toilet was surprised. 2016

  • Worth it if you delight in the midst of so much beauty, luxury and history of one of the most famous brands (if not more) of crystals in the world.

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
