  • Beautifully mounted exhibition on the development of the city of Paris from its inception as Lutetia, underground realized around and on remnants of foundations and old roads. If you you like what engrossed in the history of cities since their genesis, this is a commendable museum.

  • A place to discover Paris, easy to access on the île de la Cité. To see the ruins of the foundations of Paris in Roman times. Little known aspect of the capital, the foundations of buildings are visible of a gangway accompanied by explanations on Paris at the time and evolution. The visit is short but interesting to address the city's ancient history. I advise you to continue your exploration by visiting the Museum Carnavalet currently closed for renovation until 2019

  • In front of the Cathedral of Notre Dame, a little of the history of Paris. It's not very large, only the basement of the Museum Square, but you can see a bit of the past.

  • Look for the stairs in the square that lead you down to the entrance - so many people miss this little museum and it's a shame because it's nice to see some more ancient history of Paris. It has displays on the changing layouts of the city throughout history, and some information about daily life in the past. A good place to spend an hour wandering around if you enjoy this sort of thing. Was very quiet when we visited, especially when compared to the crowds at the cathedral itself.
  • AMAZING FROM INSIDE, MUST VISIT WORTH THE QUEUE The impressive Notre Dame Cathedral sits on the Île de la Cité and is considered one of the best examples of French Gothic architecture in the world – not to mention its huge scale means it’s also one of the largest, too. Built in the mid-14th century, with its gargoyles and stained glass windows added over time, it’s now one of the most recognised churches in the world – and thanks to Victor Hugo’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame, it’s a favourite of both adults and kids alike
  • Okay, not great. If you love archeology probably very good. This is not directly under the church as far as I could tell.
  • Very cool little archaeological museum under the plaza. Houses ruins of an old Roman bathhouse and a few other buildings. Definitely worth a visit if you're going to Notre Dame.
  • Not so famous and not so busy museum, but really good! Absolutely recommended!
