  • To have had the chance to visit several times in recent years, I can't that surprised anyone, open to the historical culture of our capital, is not impressed after his visit in the archaeological crypt of the square in front of Notre Dame. Regular visitor to the Cathedral of Paris, it is by chance that I had this incredible opportunity to take knowledge of the crypt! Excavations in 7 years, there are nearly 50 years, helped to highlight remarkable archaeological remains to have unique knowledge about urban and architectural evolution of this historic heart of Paris that is the island of the city. Over the years since its opening, this exceptional Museum appeals appropriately to new technologies, such as interactive screens and 3-d images, which appeals to all visitors regardless of age! What a wonderful opportunity than to understand how, since Lutetia, the city has stopped to rebuild on itself, through the past periods: antiquity, medieval period and the classic. Not fail to seduce visitors to expand their knowledge on the evolution of Paris, from its origins!

  • Visit after enjoying the Cathedral, lots of interactivity, but too short for the entrance fee! Is not essential!

  • We have thought about doing this little museum the last couple of time while in Paris and we finally did. What a great museum! Well worth a visit and it doesn’t take that all day. I really loved seein...  more »

  • Look for the stairs in the square that lead you down to the entrance - so many people miss this little museum and it's a shame because it's nice to see some more ancient history of Paris. It has displays on the changing layouts of the city throughout history, and some information about daily life in the past. A good place to spend an hour wandering around if you enjoy this sort of thing. Was very quiet when we visited, especially when compared to the crowds at the cathedral itself.
  • AMAZING FROM INSIDE, MUST VISIT WORTH THE QUEUE The impressive Notre Dame Cathedral sits on the Île de la Cité and is considered one of the best examples of French Gothic architecture in the world – not to mention its huge scale means it’s also one of the largest, too. Built in the mid-14th century, with its gargoyles and stained glass windows added over time, it’s now one of the most recognised churches in the world – and thanks to Victor Hugo’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame, it’s a favourite of both adults and kids alike
  • Okay, not great. If you love archeology probably very good. This is not directly under the church as far as I could tell.
  • Very cool little archaeological museum under the plaza. Houses ruins of an old Roman bathhouse and a few other buildings. Definitely worth a visit if you're going to Notre Dame.
  • Not so famous and not so busy museum, but really good! Absolutely recommended!
