Zoo / Aquarium Nature / Park
Built for the colonial exhibition of 1931, the former Musée des Colonies retains the tropical aquarium, aquarium tropical de la porte dorée, from this period. At this site, you can experience a learning trail, primitive and electric fish, and the ocean life of Asian waters and of Africa and South America. Don’t forget to check out the unforgettable shows featuring the crocodile pit, intimidating sharks, and deadly piranhas. The crocodiles were brought from Dakar in 1948, and other watery residents include cuttlefish and luminous deep-water species.

aquarium tropical de la porte dorée also features a diverse collection of aquatic fauna and flora of the warm seas, and offers many activities for children and adults to help them better understand the aquatic life and the influences man has on the environment. • Very good value diversity length of visit for even small children (2 to 6 years) a shame that aquariums are sometimes so high and so visible in arms for the smaller big + for the turtles and crocodiles!

  • The aquarium offers many species, of course, and the staff is very nice. However aquariums are not suitable! The huge fish are crammed into very small basins and can not swim! It's very limit on the level of respect for animal life. Crocodiles never see the light of day and the basin deteriorated. The sheets are very short, torn or missing. We feel the lack of means, where probably the lack of attention to the good be animals... it looks to see fish and turtles depressed and depressing... when a renovation as the zoo of Vincennes?

  • The area is not very big but enough with age children kindergarten/primary school. There are various "amazing" species that spices up the visit. It's a little old but not annoying. You can add a workshop (1 h 30 of fine arts) with a very skilled facilitator and teacher for 6 euros per child, not expensive. I also put my daughters in a workshop in connection with the Museum of immigration the afternoon: a day on top of a picnic in the huge wood just in front: new games for all ages, boats, pony wooden...

  • Lots of beautiful and interesting fish. A good place to visit with kids.
  • Wide variety of marine animals. Very nice output with your family. Interesting for the young and the old. Downside access difficult with stroller and unsuited to the disabled

  • I went to visit the different aquarium of paris. This and that in Trocadéro. To be honest, from a price perspective (5 euro compared to 15 at the Trocadero), this aquarium is unbeatable. But even better, there is no possible comparison with that in Trocadéro. The bins are much more numerous, with more great content! tropical is far superior to that of the Trocadero that don't reach that painfully the same level of a pet store in short the choice that is needed, if the side decoration it leaves a little to be desired (it is in the 60s!)

  • Affordable (7 euros full fare, 5.50 euros reduced price), however the tour is done in less than an hour.

Where to stay in Paris

Each of the city’s 20 arrondissements, or districts, has a personality all its own. If you prefer high-end accommodations and to be in the middle of the action, look for lodging in the 1st through the 4th arrondissements. For more affordable lodging and access to major metro lines, try the 12th. The Oberkampf area of the 11th arrondissement has an edgier, more hip vibe. For easy access to tourist sites,  the 16th is within a stone’s throw of the Arc de Triomph and the Eiffel Tower, and the 17th is within walking distance to the Champs-Elysées. Avoid the 18th, 19th, and 20th, because these can be dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the city.
