Aquarium Tropical de la Porte Doree, Paris

(4.1/5 based on 190+ reviews on the web)
Built for the colonial exhibition of 1931, the former Musée des Colonies retains the tropical aquarium, Aquarium Tropical de la Porte Doree, from this period. At this site, you can experience a learning trail, primitive and electric fish, and the ocean life of Asian waters and of Africa and South America. Don’t forget to check out the unforgettable shows featuring the crocodile pit, intimidating sharks, and deadly piranhas. The crocodiles were brought from Dakar in 1948, and other watery residents include cuttlefish and luminous deep-water species.

Aquarium Tropical de la Porte Doree also features a diverse collection of aquatic fauna and flora of the warm seas, and offers many activities for children and adults to help them better understand the aquatic life and the influences man has on the environment. • Beautiful building that houses a small but well-maintained aquarium and you can see the crocodiles and plenty of tropical species. The cost is not exorbitant count 5euros for the aquarium and 9euro for the Palace. We had a great afternoon. More staff is nice and helpful.

  • The Aquarium is located in a beautiful building that, to him alone, worth a look. Aquarium quite modest in size but the low entrance fee allows an afternoon at low cost. Small flat on the organisation of the workplace. The windows are often placed too high and must often be children so that they can discover the different species. Big downside about management. 20 minutes before the closure of the place, we are thrown out by security. No way to get children to the bathroom before you leave ("your daughter has to do outside!" says one...). Hardly time to dress and here we are out in negative temperatures to hats, gloves, scarves to our children. I understand the need to respect schedules but a little decency would have been appreciated.

  • A historic aquarium (30 years) which may seem a bit dated at first, but a lot of attention to smaller ones that have pleased us well:-children can markets before most of the basins in order to see the fish - tropical fish to beautiful colors, turtles and rays on the other hand, no large pools impressive as in Monaco for example , but the entries are only 5 euros.
