  • An enchanting setting. A perfectly successful and performed museography. But and this is not the fault of its creators, the content isn't at the height. Of course you might say, he must love Courbet! And it is there that the rub, dark canvases, that of vague, probably the best of the work is elsewhere? But when you compare the Museum of the Abbey St Claude where - with other painters - everything is color, everything is light, there are collections of Ornans kinda sad. The temporary exhibition dedicated to Lucien Clergue had no more what exalt the emotion. Obviously the signature was there, but among all the exposed clichés it's hard to remember that cause surprise, connivance, admiration, or even rejection. Finally on a practical level, the administration simply forgot to report the location of the Museum, which we pass by a clearly visible sign by crossing the bridge, without knowing the House left at the water's edge is a museum or parking a little further is one of the Museum. Apart from that, good reception and friendly staff.

  • The Museum has been renovated recently. Rooms are clear and well put tables in value. Explanatory booklets of the exhibited works are available free at the reception. The employee (s) of the Museum are in the rooms and we serve nicely and very efficiently guides. The Museum presents systematically the permanent exhibition Courbet and a temporary exhibition. At the moment the photographer Lucien Clergue. A very nice Museum!
