The birthplace of artist Gustave Courbet, Musee Gustave Courbet preserves the historic and intimate character of the home that now displays 80 permanent works by the master of realism. Your children are welcomed with free activities, such as "In the manner of Courbet," a reproduction of Courbet's works that they can color in their own style. The museum promotes activities that allow them to learn and have fun while expressing themselves creatively. Additions to the original house museum includes three buildings: Borel House, Hotel Hébert, and Champereux Hotel. You will see how to organize a modern Museum, with one person in each room. Then visit the village.

Of course you won't see the best-known originals (the burial at Ornans, the encounter or Hello monsieur Courbet, the workshop of the painter or the origin of the world), presented in the national museums (and especially Orsay); However, some are present in the form of reproductions (including burial at Ornans, a didactic commentary video projection). But different sources of inspiration (pastoral landscapes or hiking, with their famous limestone massifs that dominate, and that you can admire all around the city, but also other genre scenes, or even the amazing waves marine) are present, and intelligently guided. Currently an exhibition helps to understand the role played by Courbet at the Commune (he particularly protected art treasures of the Louvre, wanted to develop the creation of artists) and the vile persecution there then been subjected, and which has resulted in his clandestine exile for the Switzerland where he died.

The Museum is beautiful, the rooms are spacious, well stocked library. See fault.
Beautiful Museum, well appointed, modern enough, and I must say that the glass above the Loue floor flowing is pretty fascinating, especially for the child. There's former elements of the building of origin, such as chimneys or walls. There is a bookshop quite provided with a section of books for children. You can access all levels in a wheelchair or stroller without worries thanks to the elevators. However, it would like to see more works by Courbet. We all know what are kept in other museums, but it would have been interesting to see copies or simply pictures of these works to have an overview of the work of the artist.
Good home. Individual lighting of paintings at revoir.cela would be a better approach to works that are not enough in valeur.cetains tables to restore. . Suitable altogether however.
