Chateau du Bosc, Demeure de Toulouse-Lautrec, Occitanie

4.5
Explore the 15th-century Chateau du Bosc, Demeure de Toulouse-Lautrec, the family home of painter Toulouse Lautrec. Once a feudal fortress, the structure was renovated in the 19th century. The artist spent a large amount of time in these halls after a crippling accident at the age of 15 in which he broke both of his legs. Despite the handicap, Lautrec's elders encouraged him to develop his skills, and so the young man started drawing. Today, you can take a guided tour of the reception rooms and bedroom, as well as a family museum with a wall of Lautrec's works. We stay regularly at Albi and so went this year visit the cradle of the family of Lautrec in Naucelle. Very beautiful castle, beautiful setting, parts are furnished, pleasant, on this side, it is to do! On the other hand, I was very disappointed not hospitality, but the Organization of guided tours. On arrival the young guide tells us to go join the guided tour, which has already started for 20 minutes... I protested (too) lightly by saying that we prefer to wait for the next, but a lady (the owner?) we are required to by saying that "we'll nothing because we will return to the start of the visit on the next". In short, the Lady brings us to the guide that is disturbed in the middle of the tour. She was in the middle of the family tree of the Lautrec, anyway I don't understand! Two other visitors have joined us two parts furthest away embarrassed to disturb the visit also! There, the Lady waved to the young guide kind "I stop add you world". The young guide, if she was passionate, had a somewhat odd diction, past. The Castle - other than that is very beautiful to see. When the tour ended, we had to wait to the young guide back visiting. Here so we could hear what we'd missed. Then we had to bother her when we left to visit. And for the two visitors who had arrived after us, it had to be the same thing. Even taking the visit from the beginning, I had finally struggling to understand the complexity of the family tree of Lautrec, because there was no document to which we could link us. It lacked a bit of pedagogy. Overall, I was really embarrassed by this lack of respect for the visitors but especially for work and concentration of the guide to proceed in this way! Especially since there were two guides, one would not have expected ten minutes...

We arrived, like most visitors I suspect, expecting to learn about Toulouse Lautrec, but it turned out to be such a delightful place, so full of history that the artistic connection is almost a footno...  more »

We visited the castle of bosc before going to the Toulouse lautrec Museum and that us has allowed to get acquainted with the character of Toulouse lautrec and his family, so want to learn more about the painter. A very nice guide who willingly answered the many questions of children. A very beautiful and very rich in objects of collection. See if you come in the region.

Worth watching for fans of Henri Toulouse-Lautrec. Have been impressed by the lovely Schlossherrinnen and the children's drawings.
