  • OK, the building itself is beautiful (to my eyes anyway) and the restaurant on top is excellent. Having said that, the art collection/exhibitions can vary wildly in standard, they may be to your taste...  more »
  • A mayor judge his delusions of grandeur or wisdom of management? An aedile must seek to burn in the marble or stone, its action than the collective memory would have otherwise forgotten? If the answer is positive, in this case, the former Mayor of Nimes scored the spirits and Jean Bousquet won his bet. Except that the square of art is more of the architecture of a shopping mall to a museum it was contemporary art. Its lines, its awning, the atrium, smell these temples of consumption that are the malls of the Parisian type Parly or Vélizy, built and developed in the years 70-80. And Mr. Foster we knew better inspired (for example with the imposing and air Millau Viaduct) settled a minimum exercise of creativity. Where the old neoclassical Nimes, fire theatre in the early 1950s - and which the colonnades are now isolated, lonely, on a motorway exit - sir Norman parking area made us his reading grid by small tiles interposed, in a head to head with the square House nearby. This confrontation does not turn to the advantage of the contemporary building which we doubt he can compete 2000 years in the face of the purity of the columns of the Roman temple. If the outside is pretty fake and pretentious, inside offer however beautiful surfaces for the library and the spaces dedicated to modern art in a nice stroll where the visitor may (or may not) enjoy exhibitions generally informative (one dedicated to Ugo Rondinone was challenging). This gives a certain artistic aura that her rival Montpellier her disputes with the Musée Fabre and by demographic and economic dynamism clearly superior in Nîmes. In the showdown between gentlemen Freche and Bousquet, the first crushed second dope his city to testosterone. Makes no Montpellier a more interesting, although city instead, Tu the sea she has forgotten its Center and dripping like an old cheese flowing from peripheral boulevards Bofillo-pompous suburbs. At least, Nîmes has kept a sense of harmony. I bet that the aedile current, perhaps less concerned about his person, and more prone to the influence of its region, will be with the new Museum of the Roman (which will open in 2018) provide the city with a Museum at height of its arenas and its glorious past. Architecture that is emerging appears promising. Follow...

  • Not only it is the cradle of the culture, but it is full of original exhibitions, friendly people and great finds (comics, manga, books). People come read (but if), work, do research, borrow and discover. People come to micro-stages with his child, too. One can also choose the brewery option with view over the roofs of Nimes.

  • This is the last place anyone should visit in Nîmes there is little of interest on the two floors in fact in comparison the stairs in between are delightful.
  • Not one vegetarian option. (Feria 2016 June)
  • Nice views from the cafe on the third floor over the Maison Carrée.
  • While the building might look nice, both exhibitions were absolutely terrible. The permanent one (free of charge for everyone) is an collection of boredom causing paintings. The temporary exhibition was one of the worst displays of art I've ever witnessed. No wonder the horrid "Personal Cuts" didn't permit you to take photos (at least not with flash).
  • It says the operating time is from Tuesday to Sunday , but actually on Sunday the library is closed .
