  • The Red House is a beautiful site in its own right, located uphill in the very upscale Cimiez community and an easy walk of a few bus stops from the Chagall Museum, so that you can visit both museums ...  read more »
  • It is a unique museum you can not find anywhere else in the world. It is a must see for Nice. It takes at least 3 hours to visit the whole place.
  • This is not an overly big museum. You can make it in less than an hour without rushing. The collection is not exhaustive, but you get a good picture of Matisse's production. A practical hint, start fr...  read more »
  • * beware, the ticket office closes at 5:30p and they will not let you in + this tidbit isn't posted anywhere so they turned us away as rude as they possibly could ... the lady got so tired of listening to me plead to get in that she said "I don't speak English (in perfect english) * if I could give it zero stars I would and not because of the artist and his works but because of their terrible customer service. extremely rude and had no compassion for our situation. we arrived at 5:35p and they wouldn't sell us a ticket even though the museum closes at 6p. *** we did talk with a couple locals that said this museum isn't worth it but we do love his art so had to make the effort regardless *** we also told them that we're leaving on a plane tomorrow but they wouldn't budge. all three of them just shook their heads and turned us away. very sad as we really wanted to go but it seems that little rules like that ticket offices closing should be posted somewhere...frustrating
  • Lovely museum! Very friendly staff and in a beautiful location. Be sure to grab a coffee in the park after your visit.
  • Mixed feelings here. We went in April and it was quiet. It's a lovely building and nicely laid out. It's lacking the best works of Matisse. However no photographs at all allowed. Most other places do, so I returned with nothing to help my memories - I really do despise this
  • In his former home in Nice, you can find the Matisse Museum. Outside of him being one of my favorite artists, you can see the simplicity of his life and work by being in his home. They have some ancient Egyptian statutes and other artifacts that Matisse acquired in his lifetime. It is a must see if you make it to Nice.
  • If you like Matisse then there is an impressive collection of his work, where he lived and information about his life. If you don't like Matisse then you're going to get a bit bored ;)
