Forteresse de Najac, Najac
(4.8/5 based on 320 reviews on the web)
In the Gothic chapel at Forteresse de Najac, stumble across a secret corridor hidden within the walls, linking the Romanesque tower to the spot where you stand. After making your escape, find the last of the Knights Templar, who were imprisoned behind these walls. Also known as Château de Najac, this 13th-century royal fortress brings you closer to the first English occupation, the Albigensian Crusade, the Hundred Years' War, the peasants' revolts, and the French Revolution. From the castle’s exterior, imagine the archers of old aiming through the tall, thin archères, the largest of any castle in the world at a height of 6.8 m (22.3 ft). • About 600 meters from the centre of the town so it is lovely to go by walk through the small beautiful town and climb to the bautiful chateau Najac. The castle was build in the 13th century by at leas...  more »
  • A great tour a November 1 under a radiant Sun. The guide is indispensable to know anecdotes, more lovely and listening to your questions. More sports will enjoy the climbs and descents and including 125 markets to admire the panorama at the top of the fortress. The village is beautiful and picturesque. Small flat, the visit ended at 13:00, not a free restaurant or having enough food to prepare a dish...
