Musée d'Art Classique de Mougins displays ancient, Neoclassical, modern, and contemporary art side by side to show the lasting influence of the ancient world. Many visitors come to view the huge collection of ancient armor and war machinery. The rest of the diverse collection of antiquities includes Roman, Greek, and Egyptian sculpture, vases, coins, and jewelry. Christian Levett, a British businessman and collector, opened the small but elaborate gallery in 2011. • Walking the streets of Mougins (country that I highly recommend visiting if you are in that vicinity) among artisans, artists and more, you will find this small museum. Well, the visit is worth the price of admission; ancient works on display alongside modern works in a discreet and definitely make a statement.

  • Inspiring and innovative juxtaposition of ancient and modern art. Three floors packed with thought-provoking stuff. A must if you're visiting Mougins!
  • This little Museum is a gem, immaculately maintained, an interesting private collection that ranges from Egyptian art to the Greek and Roman eras. Located in a historical building, and inside is the venture, with interactive displays also affect young people. Beautiful the juxtaposition of ancient and modern ones that at first inspired. I recommend, as well as the village of Mougins, I think more beautiful and less touristy than Saint Paul de Vence

  • The South of France is littered with great museums, and I've visited a lot of them in 2013. But of them all the Musée d'Art Classique is the sole to give you a morning-sized visit of such eclecticism and excellence. You want Greek, Roman or Egyptian antiquities? It has them. Old Masters? By the yard. Art by the twentieth century greats associated with the region? Yup, those too. Cutting edge contemporary? Plenty of that as well. Which could make it sound superficial. It isn't. There is an intellectual underpinning to the museum layout that becomes apparent as you wander past art of different eras that is juxtaposed in an imaginative and attractive manner. Think a rich stock of the British Museum and Tate Modern reduced, intensified and served under the sun of the south of France. Indispensable.
  • THE Museum of the classiest gave me to visit!
