Avoriaz Ski Resort, Morzine

3.9
Avoriaz Ski Resort is called the "Saint Tropez de Neige." The resort touts breathtaking runs: The Lindaret is the most popular, not only for its red and blue runs, but also for its whitewashed beauty. If you’re expert on the slopes, then head over to Haut-Forts with a number of black runs starting at 2,400 m (7,874 ft) and ending at 1,100 m (3,608 ft.) Take a break from the slopes with a conceptual snow park called "The Stash." The park models sustainable development with its snowboard ramps that rise from the drifts as if they grew there. Summer months are still hopping in this winter wonderland. For example, "The Portes du Soleil" is one of the best downhill mountain biking stations in Europe, while the "Aquariaz" is home to over 1,500 tropical plants that surround heated indoor pools and waterfalls. From 1973 to 1993 the resort was the host the Festival International du Film Fantastique d’Avoriaz, a film fest that gathered some of the biggest names in science fiction and horror, including Steven Spielberg, David Cronenberg, and David Lynch. Rare posters advertising the event, and the films it debuted, adorn the walls at the Le Bistro restaurant.  Put Avoriaz Ski Resort at the forefront of your travel plans using our Morzine trip builder.

Unlike previous reviews, I find the very nice resort for the summer. Actually the buildings deserve a facelift; but inside the framework remains harmonious. The location is ideal for hiking, many departures from the station and several cable cars in operation. The station contains everything needed, despite several restaurants closed (and the Sherpa overpriced!), we find happiness, then there is also a cinema, bowling, pool, tennis court, mini golf and many other activities. A game is space for children and adults with giant games (checkers, chess, small horses), tables of ping pong etc. Two types of parking are available: open free parking, and covered parking for € 4 per day. System of the multi pass for €2 per person and per day at a member host (Pierre & vacances isn't but provide for free a few days depending on the length of stay) or for € 9/d provides access to all free lifts and sports fields. Stayed there a very good holiday!

We visit the resorts in the Alps of the North in order to reinvest after selling an apartment the two Alps. Where this passage in Avoriaz. I've never seen anything so hideous. A cluster of buildings of 12 floors made up of blackened wood. Not a tree. The concrete desert! The uniformity that is devoid of any imagination. An empty and lifeless city that made us flee. It is certainly a vision of the summer but we guess the ski factory it must be winter. Refrain in charming amateur!

How can we leave architects distort such places with horrible buildings and make a station without a soul, cold even without snow, where it is fashionable to show just for the parade of the Peacock that makes the wheel and spend his money to the futility and the non-essential!
