Avoriaz Ski Resort, Morzine

(3.9/5 based on 750+ reviews on the web)
Avoriaz Ski Resort is called the "Saint Tropez de Neige." The resort touts breathtaking runs: The Lindaret is the most popular, not only for its red and blue runs, but also for its whitewashed beauty. If you’re expert on the slopes, then head over to Haut-Forts with a number of black runs starting at 2,400 m (7,874 ft) and ending at 1,100 m (3,608 ft.) Take a break from the slopes with a conceptual snow park called "The Stash." The park models sustainable development with its snowboard ramps that rise from the drifts as if they grew there. Summer months are still hopping in this winter wonderland. For example, "The Portes du Soleil" is one of the best downhill mountain biking stations in Europe, while the "Aquariaz" is home to over 1,500 tropical plants that surround heated indoor pools and waterfalls. From 1973 to 1993 the resort was the host the Festival International du Film Fantastique d’Avoriaz, a film fest that gathered some of the biggest names in science fiction and horror, including Steven Spielberg, David Cronenberg, and David Lynch. Rare posters advertising the event, and the films it debuted, adorn the walls at the Le Bistro restaurant.  Put Avoriaz Ski Resort at the forefront of your travel plans using our Morzine trip builder.

  • Avoriaz is a hell! The worst ski stay where I've been. Is full of skiers that flood the slopes turning any clue blue hell in lumpy sapudas. Almost no track is treated at night which means you're terrified to do any track as 100 amateur skiers pass through each other wildly. It's also a very windy estancia which means the chairs for the Suiçaa are often closed. Estancia architecturally-ugly: it seems an Apocalypse scenario with skyscrapers. The only strong point is be ski in ski out. But that doesn't make up for all the disadvantages. To forget!!!

  • Despite good references, the clues you have failed a lot due to the elevadissimo number of people on track and out of the same treatment. The humps on the track were very large and constant which made skiing very painful and difficult. The weather conditions didn't help but I've been in other positive aspects are the resorts ski in ski out, the resort itself is funny with its buildings all look alike and caleches and transport ratracks. Fine dining and attentive and friendly staff. The track highlight the Chez BaBeth in Chatel although the snow in this area be bad and in Avoriaz the bistro and the La reserve.

  • Great resort. Shame the season wasn't the best for snow but still ok on that front. Snowed whilst we were there but then melted again ! Bad year so far .... it will only get better!!  more »
