Trip Planner: Europe / France / Pays de la Loire / Maine et Loire / Montsoreau / Chateau de Montsoreau
Chateau de Montsoreau is built directly on the confluence of the Loire and Vienne rivers. This gives it spectacular views across the water to the region's riverbank landscapes. It isn’t just the view outside that is impressive, the interior of the chateau is pristine with vaulted ceilings and limestone construction that has survived the centuries gracefully. The chateau completed renovation in 1999, when an 18 room multimedia tour was installed. You’ll delight in the guided media experience through this UNESCO world hertiage site. Chateau de Montsoreau is an example of a happy marriage of the old and new. le château est magnifique, avec une vue superbe en terrasse sur la confluence la présentation de l’hôtesse d'accueil est excellente et mériterait plus de temps mais le château a été complètement vidé ... more »the castle is beautiful, with a great view on the terrace on the confluence of the presentation of the hostess is excellent and deserves more time but the castle was completely emptied of its furniture and his soul more exposure on conceptual art is still difficult to access

Connaissant ce château et habitant la région pour l'avoir visité plusieurs fois avant sa vente à un propriétaire privé, nous y sommes retournés entre amis mais avons été scandalisés par la transformat... more »Knowing this castle and living in the region for having visited several times before its sale to a private owner, we went with friends but were shocked by the transformation of the castle in so-called contemporary Museum. For the price exorbitant 9,20 euros, we have rediscovered a castle slaughtered inside with all the tufa walls whitewashed with lime, without soul, without history, and 2 mini exhibitions of contemporary art! commented on in English and without much interest in these places. I absolutely would not recommend this tour of castles and history lovers, observe instead from the outside, it's free. The entrance fee is a scandal.

Superbe château, non meublé, mais occupé par une exposition d'arts conceptuels. Bonne scénarisation, très informative. more »Great Castle, not furnished, but occupied by an exhibition of conceptual art. Good script, very informative.

The contemporary art exhibition is strange. You don't even want to take a look at it. The castle looks nice outside, but there's nothing inside. The only thing interesting is when you go on top of the castle, you have a nice view. It's not worth to pay so much for so few things.

It is 50% more expensive than the nearby larger chateau at Saumur, and all that it contains for the extra price is a sparse, pretentious 'art' collection. The best part of the chateau is the outside, and that is free!

It's way overpriced. Nothing of interest on the inside, which is all but empty. Nice views of the Loire from the terrace, but that's it.
