Château de Flaugergues, Montpellier

4.0
#2 of 8 in Historic Sites in Montpellier
At Château de Flaugergues, you will find a great storehouse of preserved antique French furniture and Flemish tapestries. Builders designed the castle to complement the different terrain levels and created garden areas to give a greater sense of space. The facade includes a doorway with Doric pilasters and rose-sculpted metopes. Inside, admire the massive staircase that takes up nearly one third of the interior space, complete with hanging key vaults and forged iron banisters. Although the architecture is the main draw, consider visiting the vineyards too. Beautiful garden. But beware the restaurant and the Castle are closed in August. We still enjoyed the visit, well shaded and beautiful trees. Good wine tasting to close.

The website is misleading. We arrived in the morning to be told the chateau is not open to visitors until 1500. We then paid 8 Euros to see the very ordinary and not particularly well kept gardens. Very disappointing. This is obviously a chateau for wine tours and nothing else!

It says that is open everyday but when I got there they told me that the next available visit for the Chateau was in four days, and today I could only visit the garden
