  • Another reminder of the Romans-aqueduct. In the heart of the city and perfectly preserved. Surreal look machine parked below-meeting of antiquity and modernity.

  • Coming from the Center through the door to the Peyrou, must cross the Royal square and go up to this beautiful stone portico overlooking a water mirror to discover the stone aqueduct. This book spans gardens, streets, buildings... Beauty. Turn around and discover the perspective on the Peyrou door and the old Center. On the other two sides, you will enjoy a level down the aisles of the gardens and two levels below the city.

  • With water from the Peyrou gardens of the Castle, the aqueduct of Pitot is the arrival point of the aqueduct that brought water from the fountain of Saint Clement of river in Montpellier. After more than a century of dithering, its construction was entrusted to Pitot, engineer to whom Louis XIV had also entrusted the construction of the bridge next to the bridge of Gard. Pitot so borrowed from Roman architects their construction technique: place the water in a double row of arches. This is why people often believe that the aqueduct in Montpellier is Roman.
