Tourist Spot
See layers of French history come together at Montcaret Archaeological Site. The museum presents artifacts found on site from the area's first inhabitants, cave-dwellers of the Neolithic period. You'll also be able to view the ruins of an aristocratic Roman family's home from the 1st century, featuring lovely mosiacs and the remains of a medieval church. The church's monks inadvertently buried their dead inside the ruins of the villa that predated them by hundreds of years. Guided tours are available in French, but you can also opt for a self-guided tour with an English-language leaflet. Our Montcaret trip builder makes visiting Montcaret Archaeological Site and other Montcaret attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.
