Chapelle Saint-Aubert, Mont-Saint-Michel

Categories: Sacred & Religious Sites, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.1/5 based on 100+ reviews on the web
Set atop a rocky outcropping protruding from the main island of Mont Saint Michel, Chapelle Saint-Aubert owes its existence to a supposedly sacred rock. Built during the early 8th century, the small chapel serves as a haven from the bustle of the rest of the island. Make your way to the chapel, constructed in unassuming fashion out of stone, by traversing the set of steps connecting it to the rest of the island. Enter the building and admire its simple interior, featuring a small altar and a few arched windows. Be sure to bring your camera when you visit, as at low tide the view of the chapel from a distance will give you appreciation for how well it has survived over the centuries against the ravages of the surrounding ocean. • Lovely little chapel on your way up to the top. If you come early you'll be able to avoid the crowds and have the entire chapel to yourself. Lovely and peaceful.
  • At Mont St Michel there are many novel (important) site to see. This is surely one. This is one of the sites that would have been seen on the pilgrim"s path. It is surely worth the effort.
  • That is obstructed by mud and seawater during high tide had come to visit. Shifts from the entrance of the island, because during the summer in less tourists, can be relieved. Why one decided to go during low tide when I visit next time.
