Four Solaire, Mont-Louis

(4.5/5 based on 100+ reviews on the web)
A world-renowned laboratory, Four Solaire highlights solar energy with its research and education efforts in solar phenomena. The site contains one of the two largest solar furnaces in the world. The solar oven uses the concentration of solar rays by reflecting mirrors--it captures the rays first through a set of movable mirrors and then directs them to a second set of "hub" mirrors. The rays then converge toward a small target at the top of a central tower. This huge solar oven can create extremely high temperatures in seconds, and it serves as a useful tool in the study of solar energy and its applications, heat transfer, and thermal shock. The facility also provides educational services for visitors ranging from elementary school pupils to college students and professional scientists. • Smile, humor and good explanations, made this visit, enjoyable and instructive; A small film before entering the field. Questions, answers and especially demonstrations for all ages

  • We visited the solar oven and have learned many things. The little video of the beginning is necessary, this allows to better understand the explanations then.

  • This visit was a total discovery for me, because I did not know. We have had the right to a visit which was not provided at the base and made by a young woman smiling and very involved, very impressive and informative visit. If you want to support their project all AIDS are welcome.
