For history lovers, it's a nice place to visit. Although can not work around it, it's a beautiful ballad. Thanks to Mr. Vauban.

Sébastien Le Prestre (1633-1707), known as the Marquis de Vauban, was an engineer and architect military who lived in the 17TH century during the reign of Luis XIV. The Sun King undertook a series of campaigns that won numerous enemies. The construction of the Vauban fortifications allowed to defend the borders of the Kingdom of France. Thanks to its location and its design, were impregnable fortresses. The constructions of the Marquis de Vauban stand out by its star-shaped design and their installations to outwit the enemy. The principles of Vauban were used by his contemporaries and inspired other military buildings all over the world until the 19th century. The twelve fortifications of Vauban in France were declared world heritage by Unesco in 2008. In addition to be an important military interest, the works of Vauban allowed the creation of models of buildings used throughout Europe. These places are located in Mont Dauphin, Briançon, Besançon, Neuf-Brisach, Longwy, Arras, Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, Camaret-sur-Mer, Saint-Martin-de-Ré, Blaye-Cussac-Fort-Médoc, Mont Louis and Villefranche de Conflent. And give back to the country. We met in the first instance VILLEFRANCHE DE CONFLENT, one of "les plus beaux villages de France". From 1669 to 1687, the military engineer Marquis de Vauban fortified the city with defensive elements that are still preserved at the same time. In the year 1674, he began to develop what is known as the conspiracy of Vilafranca, a thriller in which some families of the village decided to conspire to reunite the territory with Catalonia. The French Crown reacted quickly in front of these things, recovering the town almost immediately. In 1793 the Spanish troops conquered the city but in the same year the general Dagobert recovered the villa. Much of the defenses of the town were restored, new defensive batteries and the Fort Libéria, were built a castle at the Summit of the monte Belloc who was connected to the city by a subterranean stairway of 734 steps (still today, this underground is considered the largest in Europe). And there comprobamo to this walled city by the Fortifications of Mont-Louisa, embraced by the Têt River and at the foot of the Canigou, known le as the city of "the Sentinel of the Pyrenees".
