(4.5/5 based on 440+ reviews on the web)
Few medieval villages in France are as well preserved as La Couvertoirade. Located on the Larzac Plateau, this beautifully restored village reflects the military power of the Knights Templar, who built the fortress in the 12th and 13th centuries. Have your camera ready when you arrive in this historic town, classified as one of the most beautiful villages of France. Walk the ramparts, and don’t miss the 20-minute movie on the history of the village. Take a guided tour that includes the House of the Scipione or rent an audio guide, available in English. • This small village of the 15th century located in the Larzac within 1 hour of Montpellier and 45 minutes from Millau, is beautifully preserved "damage of the 21st century" (although qq TV antennas are visible on the slate for most roofs). With a little imagination we imagine life nearly 600 years ago. Brrr! It's even good progress, although if not always beautiful!

  • as a number of 'typical' villages it has dedicated to tourism (Collonges red for example), it has lost its soul: we get out the goats and sheep for the folklore, but out of season, it is what remains of the place. that said, the village and its history which is rich deserve better... especially if the "real" inhabitants returned!

  • The place is magical. The site is well maintained, clean. The shops are varied and well stocked. The parking lot (almost mandatory) to access the village pays. The view is very interesting.

  • Spellbinding little place, every turn a new photo opportunity. Loved my visit here
  • Trés belle ville fortifié, bien conservé et bien entretenue
  • Lovely old buildings
  • beautiful village not to be missed. If you pass nearby do not hesitate to do a detours you won't regret. A jewel with a beautiful mill. A wonderful atmosphere and a breathtaking habitat conservation. In addition to the inhabitants very sympatric.

  • TOURIST VILLAGE. Pretty medieval village made up of traders. Too bad. Awarded to new and clean, for tourists. Prepare the currency: it starts with the car park located at 350 m. Even you, friends MOTORCYCLISTS. Provide water bottle for the summer, as they say: "the Sun knocks!".
