Basilica St. Michel, Menton

(4.4/5 based on 420+ reviews on the web)
Rich in Franco-Roman history, the Gothic Basilica St. Michel was built between the end of the 14th century and the 16th century. Visit this French historic monument for a look at the architecture and artwork within, such as the pulpit, which represents St. Michael slaying the dragon. The separate bell tower, which is 114 m (nearly 400 ft) tall, was built in the 15th century. An 1881 exploration revealed a Gallo-Roman cemetery and catacombs under the tower. The church's stained-glass windows were destroyed during the bombardment of 1940. Arrange to visit Basilica St. Michel and other attractions in Menton using our Menton vacation route planner.

  • Everyone agrees on this point, must necessarily go! It goes, of course, but what a reward! The site is admirable, both by its buildings, its typical narrow streets than by diving to the sea and the port. Do not hesitate to sneak right and left for dawdling through the old stones, so many details make a delicious place.

  • This place is worth watching, and here you get a heartfelt peace. A walk through the street like to go for a-stop with refreshments, Pression Monaco is recommended (consisting of a dash of Kirsebærsirup, then half and half with beer and lemon soda.
