  • This is the third visit for us - every time, there is an unexpected but interesting exhibition. This time, it was a local painter of the 19th century that we knew about, but who had a lot of talent and an exceptional career, it must be said that the historic permanent expo is also interesting.

  • Well located, a few minutes walk from the Mucem, from the old port district of the basket, restaurants. The Museum is very convenient, functional, spotless and large WC. 3 exhibition halls. We followed a guided tour on Orientalism. Beautiful paintings and varied. A nice guide, providing many references and explanations on this long running in the history of painting, with a nice accent, a clear voice and an impeccable french. Upstairs, the painter exhibition Marseille late 18th / early 19th, David Dellepiane. Free visit, we saw some very good paintings, and advertising posters for large companies in the region at the beginning of the last century. Two beautiful exhibitions, even if this isn't the Orsay Museum. In a small room, a film history health of Marseille, on the brewing process generated by the port and its sailors. The building of the Museum is part of this story. Interesting movie, but everything in looooongueur. Of so long sequences of endless images where nothing happens. Without changing a single word in the narration, the documentary could be reduced to 30 minutes instead of 45.

  • 2 shows not to miss at the moment: l "Orientalist and David Dellepiane. Welcome and €6,5 ticket per person, very correct. Wonderful paintings of painters known, well put in value, sufficient explanations and a very informed framework. The 1st floor overlooks the sea and Mucem: very nice close Parking and vaults of the Major next I would highly recommend this Museum

  • This is a nice to visit in Marseille. Enjoy the walk around an lunch at the restaurant in the roof.
  • Museum of Provencal painters who made the glory of light and atmosphere of Marseille. Excellent 2nd floor. Snacking with air-conditioned glass terrace which boasts a great view of the Fort Saint Jean, Mucem, beyond Major Cathedral
