Orange Vélodrome, Marseille

4.3
A symbol of the city's cultural life, Orange Vélodrome is one of the most iconic monuments in the region. The venue for the Olympique de Marseille soccer team, it has also hosted the 1998 soccer World Cup, the 2007 rugby World Cup, and many other sporting events. Until recently, it was the largest soccer stadium in France, seating more than 60,000 spectators. In preparation for a 2016 championship series, renovations limited the structure to 42,000 people. Post-renovation, more than 67,000 can enjoy sports here. • You can not go to Marseille without going to the velodrome... To park it is better to arrive early... no parking, and more municipal police take off car parking non-regulatory... once on-site you have the shop.. .interressante and suddenly you can equip you for the evening. To eat you don't have much choice, considering the number of spectators! Once inside, you are entitled to the show wherever you are placed. Of course big atmosphere in the stands, but for being go to Saint-etienne several times I was a bit disappointed. Once the show is over, it is easy to start, even in car... Nice evening and renew.

  • Did the tour, nice staff. Impressive stadium. Must see. Love the way they honor their history, many famous French players.
  • Very modern huge stadium. Watched the Tour de France stage here and thought the seat style was better than old Traffords as the seats don't flip up and you can step over from row to row alot easier. Loved the modern design of the place.
  • Great photo opportunity on the stadium front steps. Nice big store with friendly staff.
  • The best football stadium in Europe for the best french team in history ! I love my city and my team !
  • I visited here to watch the football is a very pleasant place

Where to stay in Marseille

The Old Port is near the water, seafood restaurants, and the not-to-be-missed museums. Hotels with sea views come with a price tag to match, though. For more affordable accommodations and local character, check out hostels and rental apartments in the Panier district. The Canebière neighborhood is in the heart of the action. For a more nature-oriented locale, a hotel near Garde Hill offers the nearby botanical gardens.
