Mémorial de la Marseillaise, Marseille

(3.3/5 based on 35+ reviews on the web)
La Marseillaise is the patriot song of the revolution and the adopted French national anthem. The Mémorial de la Marseillaise is a tribute to the past and an inspiration for the future. The museum divides history into three sections – Pre-Revolution, the Revolution and Post-Revolution. In the Pre-Revolution section, you see newspapers and other peripherals that showcase Marseille before the revolution took place, it also shows you the lead up to the revolution. In the next section, you are animatedly introduced to the heroes of the revolution and the struggles they faced. In the last section, you are taken through a very special presentation of birth of the French Republic. • It's for a long time that I went, and it seems that the memorial will move because even Marseille were not going. What a pity! Yet the Museum is very well designed and the district no longer deserves its reputation. Located behind the library of the Alcázar, this area became cleaner and safer (by day). A few nice shops all around. even if it's still the neighborhood of wholesalers.

  • In an alley there is the flag that we can see, the building that demolished or burned down, he didn't talk, because I was expecting something grander.

  • In the Center, easy to find-though a narrow Bosporus. A museum dedicated to the "Marsel'eze" are almost always closed-on the wall there is a schedule, almost unreal to visit (a couple of hours a couple times a week). Sfotkalis' Memorial have huge boards, where it is said that Joseph Rouget de Lisle (familiar from textbooks) sang or wrote in the year 1792 "La Marseillaise"-now the national anthem of France. Then walk 5 minutes to the City History Museum, located in Lafayette.
