Calanque du Sugiton, Marseille

Categories: Outdoor Activities
Inspirock Rating:
4.7/5 based on 340+ reviews on the web
The Calanque de Sugiton is one of the numerous calanques located between Marseille and Cassis. While quite small, Sugiton is perhaps the most known of all Marseille Calanques, simply because it can be easily accessed by hikers, starting from Luminy University Campus, and because it is open to tourists even during hot season, unlike most Calanques. In fact during summer most of the Calanques are closed because of high fire risk.A small beach can be found at the extremity of the calanque.

  • You come here after a walk of approx. 1 hour and get rewarded with a nice swimming spot in the Sun. There are many fish. It is convenient to swimming shoes.

  • While in Marseilles they recommended me to visit any of its Calanques. I do not regret having chosen the Calanque of Sugiton, a natural paradise within the reach of any tourist. It comes with a bus that we can take in the Centre of Marseille to the University and from there is a walk of about 45 minutes easy level. Fundamental to bring good shoes and a camera to capture those beautiful views not to forget them, though probably not go never our memory! It is possible to also go down to the beach and take a swim if one goes in a warm season. I highly recommend it!

  • The Calanques of Sugiton are within walking distance of bus in Marseille. Getting to the starting location, one can find signs directing the walk to the different Calanques of Sugiton among them. The view is amazing and the ice-cold water, but is very worthwhile.
