Trip Planner: Europe / France / Ile-de-France / Seine-et-Marne / Maincy / Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte
Constructed entirely on a platform surrounded by a moat, Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte can be reached by one of two bridges. The Baroque architecture and estate plan here marked the beginning of the Louis XIV style, combining architecture, interior design, and landscape design. The garden's pronounced visual axis is an example of this style. Inside, you'll find Monsieur and Madame Nicolas Fouquet's apartments, furnished to depict their 17th-century aristocratic lifestyles and decorated with their favorite artworks. From the ground floor, you can see the garden and countryside. Children's activities, guided tours, and audio tours in English are available at the ticket booth. Just past the booth, you'll find the Horse and Carriage Museum, with large stables and ornate antique carriages. The castle is beautiful, the only small drawback is can be the cheap fare to add 3 euros more for access to the roof with view on the Park. Don't miss it worth the trip!

Un tres beau chateau qui vaut le coup d'oeil. Superbe visite de la toiture et du dome donnant accès à la charpente (supplément de 3 euros). De belles pieces, pas mal d'acces + visite des cuisines. Beautiful pieces, not wrong to access + visit to the kitchens. Allow an hour for the Castle. The gardens are just as splendid course from 2:30 to get a glimpse. We did the pedalo: attention, advised to the sportier because no advance that hardly and transport bit egonomic! A Museum of the crew is also present on-site. Small restaurant and a shop.

Downside: "restaurants" and other supply with exorbitant prices points (2.50 euros the small bottle of water and nearly 7 euros the simple sandwich).

Beautiful chateau!! The interior is decorated and furnished which makes it interesting for the families and the gardens are beautiful, I always get the golf cart to go around the gardens and I rented the costumes for my kids (Not a huge variety but a very nice touch to the visit of the Chateau interior). The food at the Écurie was average and expensive, next time around I will just get a sandwich at the shop by the gardens. I highly recommend visiting this chateau.

Beautiful chateau, the illusion of the gardens are quite interesting. It's worth going to the top of the roof (but you have to pay) to admire the view. We spent 2.5 hours here, including visiting the chateau and a walk up to the water mirror.

Having visited Vaux several times over the years it is the most wonderful place in the world. Tranquil, romantic and beautiful. Visit on a day that gardens and chateau are candlelit, have a meal and wander the garden in the dusk of evening. I cannot remember such a beautiful place.

Some people may say it is a glimps of Versails, but imho it is better, more intimate and just simpy beautiful. No wonder Luis XIV was evious about this chateau.
