Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte, Maincy

Constructed entirely on a platform surrounded by a moat, Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte can be reached by one of two bridges. The Baroque architecture and estate plan here marked the beginning of the Louis XIV style, combining architecture, interior design, and landscape design. The garden's pronounced visual axis is an example of this style. Inside, you'll find Monsieur and Madame Nicolas Fouquet's apartments, furnished to depict their 17th-century aristocratic lifestyles and decorated with their favorite artworks. From the ground floor, you can see the garden and countryside. Children's activities, guided tours, and audio tours in English are available at the ticket booth. Just past the booth, you'll find the Horse and Carriage Museum, with large stables and ornate antique carriages. • Day picnic on Wednesday 4/10/2017 very nice couple with little world and waiting. Garden falls less rich in flowers but rich in tranquility with an electric car at 20 euros 45 minutes enough to visit the gardens. Great organization and location with friendly staff and well reported indications. Outstanding Castle course; impressive richness of the furniture and murals with precise historical commentaries. Parking nearby and free shop with well-chosen products at reasonable rates. Picnic benches positioned along the route for a pose or a spade. Visit in 5 hours. We are delighted in view of the world at this time.

  • We feel in this handsome Castle held at arms length by the family that funds are struggling to maintain the whole. Then we introduced the cinema theme. Both and although rooms undergo an historic affront, a mix of Universal studios and the reign of Louis XIV. Mixture of styles, from scenes of the buffoons of the XXI century and the sad story of former owner Fouquet. What get lost for some tourists may be...

  • The visit of Vaux le Vicomte by candlelight takes back us to the era of the Kings and courtiers. Atmosphere hushed, subdued, where is expected to see out a lady in uniform time of her boudoir... Two caveats:-Fireworks really short (5 min) but considering the price of such a spectacle and its recurrence (1 time / week) can understand. -parking, of course, but which turns into a puddle of mud at the slightest rain. The many holes and potholes fill with water and forced a complete car cleaning as soon as it comes out. Impassable parking foot (obligation to walk on the road). Come around 8 p.m. to visit the Castle "quietly" before the horde of tourists arrives. In short, we spend a very beautiful moment out of time for report quality / price is right.

  • POOR SHUTTLE SERVICE / NICE VIIST While the day at the estate was lovely, poor management at the end of the day was a real turn off. The last shuttle bus of the day never showed up. The shuttle takes you to the train to Paris. When we informed the staff, they were oblivious. On a Sunday in August, there was apparently no one on the grounds who could make decisions: to reimburse us, to provide us a bottle of water, etc. No one took responsibility. When I informed the estate by message, they again denied responsibility, then finally made an apology. There was no offer for reimbursement, no offer to revisit the estate gratuitously, etc. I was shocked by the poor customer service. Recommend going by car.
  • Beautiful chateau!! The interior is decorated and furnished which makes it interesting for the families and the gardens are beautiful, I always get the golf cart to go around the gardens and I rented the costumes for my kids (Not a huge variety but a very nice touch to the visit of the Chateau interior). The food at the Écurie was average and expensive, next time around I will just get a sandwich at the shop by the gardens. I highly recommend visiting this chateau.
  • Beautiful chateau, the illusion of the gardens are quite interesting. It's worth going to the top of the roof (but you have to pay) to admire the view. We spent 2.5 hours here, including visiting the chateau and a walk up to the water mirror.
  • Having visited Vaux several times over the years it is the most wonderful place in the world. Tranquil, romantic and beautiful. Visit on a day that gardens and chateau are candlelit, have a meal and wander the garden in the dusk of evening. I cannot remember such a beautiful place.
  • Some people may say it is a glimps of Versails, but imho it is better, more intimate and just simpy beautiful. No wonder Luis XIV was evious about this chateau.
