Rue de la Republique, Lyon

(3/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web)
Stroll, shop, and see the first Haussman-style buildings on Rue de la Republique, a 19th-century pedestrian zone and World Heritage Site. Luxury boutiques and inexpensive retailers line the street, which is a hub of activity for both locals and visitors. Look for the Cinéma Pathé, a rare example of Art Deco architecture in the city. The Fnac Bellecour headquarters was once the main branch of the newspaper "Le Progres," but the building was originally designed as a theater. Using our international travel planner, Lyon attractions like Rue de la Republique can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • OK OK to visit. Its just besides mall and can spend a good time with friends/ family or colleagues(when on a business tour). Good area around.
  • I threw myself shopping, lol. But only the tour also goes. The street is very beautiful and charming. Has great fast fashion stores (I recommend the Maxi Bazaar, at the beginning of the street). Has the French charm as it is unobtrusive-no multipropagandas, and comfortable to ride.

  • The biggest shopping street of Lyon largely pedestrian. You can connect the Town Hall (place of Terreaux) to place Bellecour. A lot of signs of all kinds, for all budgets. Small stop freshness at mid course (in summer) to admire the basin and its fountains, the merry-go-round in front of the Carlton hotel. Very nice also to night with a very successful lighting of buildings.
