Stroll, shop, and see the first Haussman-style buildings on Rue de la Republique, a 19th-century pedestrian zone and World Heritage Site. Luxury boutiques and inexpensive retailers line the street, which is a hub of activity for both locals and visitors. Look for the Cinéma Pathé, a rare example of Art Deco architecture in the city. The Fnac Bellecour headquarters was once the main branch of the newspaper "Le Progres," but the building was originally designed as a theater.
