Parc de la Tete d'Or, Lyon
(4.7/5 based on 6,500+ reviews on the web)
Parc de la Tete d'Or is 117 hectares (290 acres) of urban outdoor fun. The locals love it for jogging and cycling, while you’ll love it for boating, the zoo, and mini-golf. Construction of this city oasis began in 1812 and continues to the present day. The city adds exhibits every few years, such as an African Safari addition to the zoo in 2010. Although the park takes its name for a legendary treasure that may have been buried on its grounds, you’ll find that the real treasure isn't gold or diamonds but the serenity of the park’s environs. • Great Park. It has a botanical garden and a free Zoo (on which I have mixed feelings). On the big lake you can do kayak or rent a boat. Great place to run, catch some air or lay down and read a book.
  • It really worth a walk. The Zoo and the Votanical gardens are inside along with a super big and nice lake. Make sure also to bring your kids. It will be fun !!!
  • This amazing park is one of the most beautiful places in Lyon that should be visited. You can take your sandwiches and have a great breakfast in the park with the lovely animals.
  • Very clean and beautiful place. Animal sounds can be heard and can be enjoyed too. Good to see, out of city hectic life.
  • Great park, probably the best city-park I've seen in France so far (it even has a zoo in it).
