Where to stay in Lyon

Lyon’s nine districts surround the two major rivers running through the city: the Rhône and the Saône. The most scenic districts are Vieux Lyon (Old Lyon) and La Croix Rousse, where the city’s historic sites are located. Lodging in these areas is walking distance to these sites. Near the breathtaking Parc de la Tête, the Tête D’Or district offers a quieter option away from the city center.

  • Produce market for mostly fruit and vegetables. But also some stalls selling Cheese, Sausages, flowers, olives and some others. Most stalls have the prices and some of the cheese and sausage stalls have tasters out. If you are interested in food and cooking, and are able to take food home with you then this market is lovely.
  • My favorite part of visiting Lyon was shopping at the market on the morning of Easter Sunday along with all the local families preparing for a big celebration meal. Make sure you try the roast chicken and the potatoes covered in chicken fat - so unhealthy, but amazing taste!
  • The weekend market in front it is perfect to know the local food & people, good page to understand the food culture of South France.
  • Start of the Lyon boat tour. Fresh in-season produce at reasonable prices.
  • Wonderful selection of local produce. Foodie heaven. After you're done shopping, sit and enjoy fresh mussels and a glass of wine. ..
