Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse, Lyon

Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse is a covered marketplace with over 50 upscale shops and restaurants. Newly built in the 1960s, this is also a market with the best of Lyon's ingredients for the city's famous cuisine. Sausages, dumplings, and snails are hung, iced, and arranged just so to lure your eye away from competing vendors; this isn't the original market, but a reconstructed version. The original was built in 1869, but later was demolished. The locals missed a market where they could purchase the best goods directly from the origin, so it was reconstructed in its full glory and with modern improvements, such as spacious walkways. • Wonderful market of quality with all regional specialties (and elsewhere) you want. Not to be missed for lovers of good food.

  • everything is designed to have a very nice time, to discover some great suppliers of small corners of restoration (remember to take a cooler because you won't leave empty-handed so envy is the eating of very good products)

  • This is one of the best food markets I've been in, all around the world. If you're going on Sunday, Google says it's open until 4 but many of the best restaurants close by 1pm. I suggest a cheese plate at Mon's (there is seating upstairs, too); oysters anywhere- Merle is a favorite but often too busy to find a seat, Fruits de la Mere is great but you have to be agressive about getting a seat; macaroons at Richart. If a restaurant has hall tables or standing table don't be shy about taking an open seat. The French certainly are not and they will take your seat, while you are inquiring with the waitress if it's ok to sit there. It's going to be busy so try to enjoy the chaos and camaraderie of so many people, who have come together to enjoy food.
  • So much temptation here! A beautifully kept indoor market to go to any time of year. I had a terrific sandwich from a vendor of Spanish sausage — this was about the most reasonably priced meal I could find here! Otherwise, the fresh salads and hot meals look a bit too pricey for a market meal.
  • Great location in Lyon in a famous Les Halles. You can see and smell amazing food around. The seafood was very fresh and good. Overall experience was great but the service need some improvement.
  • Great variety of products in the one place but be aware that if you are a tourist eating here you seem to be easy prey for being charged extra.
  • What a fun place to spend time and taste some amazing food or sit down for a meal! The time to go is a Sunday morning. The market offers vendor with cheeses, meats, fresh seafood, desserts, breads and plenty more. There is something for everyone here. I highly recommending making this a part of your trip to Lyon.
