Megalithic Site of Locmariaquer, Locmariaquer

(3.5/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
Megalithic Site of Locmariaquer is a complex of Neolithic constructions comprising the elaborate Er-Grah tumulus passage grave. The dolmen is known as the "Table des Marchand" (Merchant's Table). "The Broken Menhir of Er Grah," erected around 4,700 BCE, is the largest known single block of stone to have ever been transported and erected by Neolithic man . Archaeological findings have proven that the 21 m (68 ft), 280-ton boulder once stood erect, but is now toppled over and broken into four pieces. • Disappointed because when I was a child, visiting this site was free. I have not really understood either the Panel which banned entry of this open-air site to our four legged friends and recommends to not let them drive. What my dog? We then got the ride each in turn? Other sites offer the visit with pets on a leash.

  • A very nice site, perfectly set in value, with explanations very educational. The table of merchants is really impressive, and the broken menhir concentrated in its history still so many mysteries, that it is even more exciting.
