Musée des Automates, Limoux

(3.8/5 based on 65 reviews on the web)
Gain a new appreciation for uncanny automation at Musée des Automates, a museum featuring about 250 automatic puppets, nearly all created in the site's workshop. Don't be alarmed when these puppets start moving--they are designed to. The owner of the museum creates each item in a workshop, which you can usually tour if you ask. Explore seven rooms of animated puppets and objects made of metal, wood, and paper dating from the 19th century. Put Musée des Automates into our Limoux vacation route planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • This museum is absolutely stunning! It is not expected has so much magic in this small town! Amazing automatons life-size, a finesse in the faces dressed in sumptuous costumes! Set in magnificent scene that recalls the "Carnival of Venice" all accompanied by a baroque music! Here we are transported to another world! Very well maintained then visit the workshop because everything is done by the graduates d owners are decorative Arts in Paris! a very nice view of the explanations given by the creators even! A must see if you are in the area!

  • We did 1 h 30 drive on purpose to see the museums of Limoux, internet accessed aircraft and had seen that the Museum was open on Tuesday. We had a lot of trouble finding the Museum (by where we arrived, it was better to have a small car!) and then we Park. And once there only, we have seen that the Museum was closed (along with all the others apparently).

  • 100 words... It's too short if you want to talk about, and especially too long to evoke this great Museum. If you go to Limoux, visit required about 1:30, it's... I have no words for this shot of lightning.
