Le Puy du Fou, Les Epesses

The historical theme park Le Puy du Fou is immensely popular for good reason--it brings periods of history to life through performances of epic proportions. By day, you can watch as gladiators fight for their lives, musketeers engage in swashbuckling sword fighting, and Vikings rise out of the lake on their ship to ransack a village right before your eyes. At night, the main show comes alive behind the ruined castle, depicting 700 years of history. The Cinéscénie dazzles you with its award-winning pyrotechnics and exquisite choreography. More than 1,000 actors, including children and live animals, perform this massive show on an outdoor stage that many boast is the largest in the world. Headphones provide English translations of this and many of the main attractions. Shows sometimes sell out weeks or even months ahead, so book your tickets to the park and the performances well in advance. I loved it! Not you ride you in a zip-line or in a few flying or lack making. It has no "use attractions". It is a historical theme park. A past authentic. Attractions are incredible for its realism, well made and technically amazing. The shows as the Musketeers of Richelieu is crazy nice, with infrastructures and coordination worthy of record. I don't know how they do it, or how to get not drown in some of the shows as the Vikings. The EPICIDAD stands for which is wonderful, and the historical accuracy that has. The visit to the trenches, the Roman spectacle, with chariots and gladiatorial! But if it is to have up to a retiario! Incredible. In the vicinity, not to say almost all used as livestock animals. In les oiseaux phantomes (an impressive parade of birds of all types) can be more than 100 copies at the same time... This leads me to a considerable ethical dilemma, but, from my ignorance, the animals seem to be in good condition. Here I can read on this topic... It is not a park cheap, no, but you can spend the whole day entertaining without bored because there are thousand options to see and do. Vale of much planned correctly because it is very difficult to see everything on the same day. Another special mention deserves the CINESCIENCIA, a huge show... TOP TOP TOP! For little money you can eat up to what you want to spend, there are options for all budgets. You can take your own food, there are several areas where to sit to eat quietly. Eye if it's sunny, which is hard, and if it rains... If it rains also! You can go with cart of baby, wheelchair etc... There are bathrooms scattered throughout the Park take comfortable shoes that we at the end of the day, walking from one side to another, did a whopping 15 km! I recommend to go early to avoid the increased influx of people, and be able to squeeze the time as much as possible! The shows are in French, if you know a little of the language, by context you take the rest, with a bit of general culture, you know that each story goes... If not, there are audio-guides (are not cheap, about then 6 refundable 15e) with which you can half to manage.

Spectacular, beautiful, beautiful. We take full eyes, small alike! We went there on 2 days, we redid our favorite shows even the 2nd day. The cinéscénie is grandiose.

Wonderful place. The plus: really authentic. The nature. The way it is setup and the decor is really authentic. The shows are really well made and they too are incredibly well done. The stunts are real. The actors put themselves in tremendous positions to make the shows genuine. Surprisingly few visible safety systems make the shows look like they are totally real. The system is good because while one waits for 30m or sometimes 45m the show lasts 30m and one doesn't feel like one has waited 45m for a 5m ride like in Disneyland. The whole experience was tremendous. A whole day isn't enough. One needs two. But after a day we didn't feel like we had wasted it waiting. The cons: the overly political and religious propaganda in several of the shows (Vikings, Musketeers and Roman Arena). If you don't understand French then you won't be too concerned, other than bizarre appearance of bishops and cardinals. It is the only reason I'm not giving this a 5 star. It is just too much. Feels like some covert advertising for some other messages. Which is a pity. Some tips: we went with 2 kids 6 and 3 years old. For the three year old it wasn't that great. Too much too watch, not enough to do. I would recommend older kids. Food: the food is way better than Disneyland. But really slow to deliver. Two options, buy the sandwiches they sell during the shows, or bring your own. There are plenty of areas where you can eat your own food and it is totally OK to do. You'll be walking a lot on dusty paths, I would recommend closed comfortable shoes.

So much fun for the family. Shows are all in French but didn't matter. Its the crazy costumes, sets and action that count. English park map and great signage for getting around. We did the park in two days with an overnight stay. Highly recommend that so you can enjoy the evening show without children melting down. Emotion pass was worth the 10 Euros as we just showed up 15 minutes before the main shows and got seating in the reserved area. All the shows were very well executed. Food was fine but uninspired. Bring in some yourself if you can.

Excellent! Highly recommend this theme park. We travelled nearly 3 hours and stayed nearby in order to enjoy a whole day...I only wish we had stayed for 2! We watched The Vikings, The Romans in the Colosseum, King Arthur, The bird display and The 3 Musketeers horse show all of which were very impressive! It was a very hot day and the show's (except for the horse display) were all outside with no cover, so be prepared with sun cream and a hat (or umbrella if its raining!) Our group ranged from 4 to over 50 and there was something for everyone. The park is very large and you will do a lot of walking so wear suitable shoes. We left at around 6pm for a dip in our pool and a bite to eat before going back for the evening light and water show which was fantastic!! Great place and we will return.

Fantastic place. Get there early. Take a picnic and if possible download the showtimes in advance so you have your day planned before you arrive to make the most of your day. Puy De Fou is nothing like anything you'll have seen before. It's superb. Go and enjoy. Worth every penny of the entrance fee.

Very good landscape and authentic feeling. Very Good quality special effects. The volunteering spirit of the actors made me feel like this attraction is not only about money. The actors play is not sophisticated and the stories could have been more refined, special effect is not enough to make a good plot
