Château du Taillan, Le Taillan-Medoc

(90+ reviews on the web)
Castle
Located on the banks of the Garonne, Château du Taillan has been in the winemaking business since the Middle Ages. In fact, the Knights Templar are believed to have made their own wine here. The current owner's family has presided over the business for more than 100 years. Their vineyard specializes in merlot, because the grape does so well in the region's clay-limestone soil. Take a tour of the winery, which covers the history of the castle, as well as its 16th-century cellars, and taste its acclaimed wine. • I had the opportunity to visit this castle at the Open House of the Châteaux of the Médoc. The welcome was very warm, family. We did the tour of the castle with a guide that is passionate about the history of this family. We then enjoyed a plate of charcuterie and cheese with a glass of wine in the Castle Park, comfortably installed on a beautiful garden table. Nice and peaceful moment. I recommend.

  • We have selected this Castle by chance and finally a nice surprise! A very cheerful and friendly guide who was able to explain all the little secrets of the Castle and the manufacturing of wine with simplicity. Very simple explanations a full tour and a guide who takes the time to answer all our questions. The visit ended with a tasting of 4 wines and plus a little more just for us (thanks!). Only downside: a short visit we would be still with the guide longer! A big thank you to her and continue to pass your passion for wine.
