Chateau du Champ de Bataille, Le Neubourg

(3.7/5 based on 140+ reviews on the web)
To explore an impressive site of history during your travels, Chateau du Champ de Bataille is the place for you. Built in the 17th century for the Maréchal de Créqui, this castle boasts classical French architecture and beautiful formal gardens. Wander the hallways, where you will witness furnishings and décor that has witnessed centuries of history, including the looting of the castle during the revolution.

The exterior of Chateau du Champ de Bataille complete this perfect picture. The French formal garden was created beginning in 1992 and was inspired by sketches of the original garden, long vanished, which showed the placement of the great terrace, the broderies and bousquets, and the proportions of the squares of Apollo and Diana. The garden is listed by the French Ministry of Culture as one of the Notable Gardens of France. A visit to Chateau du Champ de Bataille represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Le Neubourg tourist route planner to plot your vacation.

  • Our visit entailed the inside of the chateau, where we had a most impressive, charming and animated guide, as well as the extensive park. I found the interior a combination of over the top elements co...  more »

  • During a weekend in Normandy, we visited this beautiful castle. Even if the entry is expensive (24euros per person for Castle and garden, payment cash or cheque only) worth a visit. The exteriors are sublime, perfectly entretenusm, and huge. It is a pity that some external dew is not open to the public as sumptuous (photos are available at the reception). On the interiors: they are furniture, audio guide are available free of charge at the entrance, although rooms are public access paq, the mixture of the styles of decoration can be confusing. But they are also very nice to see. An animation was made for halloween, very friendly. I recommend!

  • Great relaxed atmosphere, especially for a 17th Century Chateau. The golf course is outstanding, even though the first and last holes are simple but surreal, inside the chateau walls. The 1st is very simple; short 4, like playing in a walled golf range. BUT; what comes next is 16 holes of Augusta. Great bar, under a brick barrelled roof. Extraordinary, testing, beautiful, relaxed... you'll never forget it!
  • Place is stunning
  • it is 24 € for the castle and garden beware !
  • Wonderful castle with gardens well maintained and original. I was especially amazed by the Palace of dreams.
