Musée d'art moderne André Malraux - MuMa Le Havre, Le Havre
(4.4/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
The impressionist painting collection at Musée d'art moderne André Malraux - MuMa Le Havre is the second most extensive in France, after that of the Orsay Museum in Paris. Facing the sea, this museum is a smooth, transparent assembly of glass and steel posed on a concrete pad. The large windows let in the highly variable light of the Normandy coast (carefully filtered to protect the art, of course)--a light that inspired many of the painters in the museum's collections. There are works by Claude Monet and other well-known artists, including Corot, Delacroix, Courbet, Degas, Manet, Renoir, Gauguin, Sisley, and Pissarro. The museum houses the largest collection of works by Eugène Boudin in the world. Modern art is also well represented here. • Neat Museum, where it is always something happening! Permanent Expo, particularly the Impressionists, and regular news. The architecture of the Museum is also remarkable.

  • A must for art lovers. Several works of impressionists of renown, such as Monet, Renoir, Manet, Pissarro, as well as Eugène Boudin, which I had the pleasure of discovering several of his works.

  • Excellent collection of impressionist art with some earlier periods lightly represented. Modern art beyond the impressionist era does not seem to be in the collection.
  • Great collection
  • Neither too big nor too small. A very nice Museum, not expensive (5 euro for adults) and offers a rich collection of paintings from different eras and different styles. There is something for everyone. Unfortunately I don't have the opportunity to see one of their temporary expo, so I don't know what they're worth, that's why I put that 4 stars. And for this and for the reception which was a little cold (not bad, bad or another, but a little remote...)
