MuMa Musee d'art moderne Andre Malraux, Le Havre

(4.4/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
The impressionist painting collection at MuMa Musee d'art moderne Andre Malraux is the second most extensive in France, after that of the Orsay Museum in Paris. Facing the sea, this museum is a smooth, transparent assembly of glass and steel posed on a concrete pad. The large windows let in the highly variable light of the Normandy coast (carefully filtered to protect the art, of course)--a light that inspired many of the painters in the museum's collections. There are works by Claude Monet and other well-known artists, including Corot, Delacroix, Courbet, Degas, Manet, Renoir, Gauguin, Sisley, and Pissarro. The museum houses the largest collection of works by Eugène Boudin in the world. Modern art is also well represented here. • This is a bright and open Museum of the sea where on 2 levels you will find what start to grasp the pictorial periods from the seventeenth to the twentieth century, decorated with an app for your Smartphone detailing some of the tables.

  • Museum modern sculpture from the eye to the outside look at the sea, before there was a large hotel highly rated international but the war (4/09/1944...a had end of his financial problems. So I go back to the muse (muma) Malraux, access is easy for wheelchairs and strollers (ask at the desk). The works are to see and see again, as in all museums works travel. Monet is present with its water lilies, Degas (course following a donation), Courbet... and temporary exhibitions. Then a small cafeteria when looking at the port. The staff is friendly, I find kinda sad room → but the sea and the port can that want you the nostalgia of the great voyages. Good walk through this museum. Well, I like this modern place.

  • Excellent collection of impressionist art with some earlier periods lightly represented. Modern art beyond the impressionist era does not seem to be in the collection.
  • Great collection
  • Neither too big nor too small. A very nice Museum, not expensive (5 euro for adults) and offers a rich collection of paintings from different eras and different styles. There is something for everyone. Unfortunately I don't have the opportunity to see one of their temporary expo, so I don't know what they're worth, that's why I put that 4 stars. And for this and for the reception which was a little cold (not bad, bad or another, but a little remote...)

  • Excellent for lovers of Impressionism exhibition space! The collection is considered to be the second largest in France after the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. Paintings by Claude Monet and other artists who lived and worked in Normandy such as Boden, Delacroix, Degas, Manet, Renoir, Sisley and others.
