Cathedrale Notre-Dame, Le Havre
(4.5/5 based on 100+ reviews on the web)
One of Le Havre's oldest buildings, Cathedrale Notre-Dame stands among a few lucky structures to have survived the destruction of World War II, although it did sustain heavy damage. Originally built in the 16th century, the church underwent multiple rounds of remodeling and reconstruction in the following centuries. When you visit the centrally located cathedral, it's hard to miss the building's unusually low profile, which stems from its construction on marshy ground. The cathedral features a mix of architectural styles, including an ornate Baroque exterior facade combined with a late medieval-era bell tower. Be sure to enter the building to explore its vaulted halls and naves, a collection of crucifixes, and the remains of an organ from the 1600s. • I love the morning when the Sun penetrates the stained glass windows behind the altar... She comes into its own at night illuminated, she brings the heat to Perret and immaculate snow is here for eternity

  • This Cathedral has "survived" bombings of the last war which have largely destroyed the harbour. its original Bell Tower, its general appearance and you will find that she is not at the level of the street but slightly lower because it is at the level of the old street before the bombing.

  • Pequena e aconchegante, a Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Le Havre é visita obrigatória para quem visita a cidade portuária que serviu de partida para milhares de famílias de emigrantes que deixaram a Europa no século XIX.
  • Very nice Cathedral, recently restored, in a district completely destroyed during the second world war...
