Abbey of Bec-Hellouin, Le Bec-Hellouin
(4.3/5 based on 180+ reviews on the web)
Abbey of Bec-Hellouin was once the most influential abbeys in the Anglo-Norman kingdom. When you visit, you’ll find yourself on the banks of a peaceful river, where you can explore some of the finest ecclesiastical architecture of the 17th and 18th century. On the tour, you will experience the cloister, the 15th century bell tower of Saint-Nicolas, the monastic quarters, the abbey church, and a display of crafts and artifacts made by the monks.

Like all abbeys, this site maintained annals of the house, but uniquely its first abbots also received individual biographies, brought together by the monk of Bec, Milo Crispin. • An exciting guided tour: neither technical nor too liturgical top. A good balance which allows to better understand the architecture and history of the site. We imagine places of his "good" time. That's twice that I come here and I will return.

  • a beautiful building at 40 kms from my home, which is worth to be visit, quiet place, meeting with the monks residing there, the view from the garden, makes us think of Versailles, visit to the Church, the cloister, only regret the closure to the visit of the st Nicolas Tower, the entry is not expensive

  • New passage in this place full of history... Too bad the Saint Nicolas Tower is more accessible (for long), because the view was really great... To make the most of the site, take the guided tour (three per day): you can then access the cloister... All leads to meditation and quiet... Don't leave without touring the village, class amongst the "most beautiful villages in France"... or enjoy the nearby Green Lane to discover the Normandy countryside...
