  • The old bridge was built close to the Gallo-Roman Ford who is originally from the city. It has a profile in a donkey. This medieval (12th or 13th century) bridge was formerly covered with houses where merchants and artisans lived. He possessed a fortified gate, who defended the access, the door Saint Julien. In 1750, about 15 families living on the bridge. The last House, property of the parish Saint-Vénérand disappeared only in 1850. On 6 August 1944, around 10:30, before leaving the city, the Germans blow up the old bridge. From 18 hours, the 304eme engineering began its repair. During the repair work, a wooden bridge will be installed in the extension of the street Crossardiere (site of the present bridge of Europe). Of its four (or five?) original arches, there are only three visible with triangular buttresses. A fourth, hidden under the pier Paul black, is partially visible at the end of the "black alley".

  • The bridge and its surroundings illuminate for the holidays. Despite a less impressive show that in other years the magic is well present.
