Le Regourdou, Lascaux

2.7
Le Regourdou serves as a museum, archeological dig site, and brown bear enclosure devoted to the Neanderthals who once inhabited the area. Discovered in the 1950s by property owner Roger Constant after a sinkhole formed, the site has become a treasure trove for archeologists. Here they reportedly discovered the oldest and most complete Neanderthal skeleton found in Europe, which dates back more than 90,000 years. They've also found a variety of tools and other artifacts, leading to a greater understanding of the early humans who lived here. Planning Lascaux trip won't be overwheling when you use's Insprock itinerary maker.

  • Meeting with people who have the heart on his sleeve and who are passionate about. I particularly recommend to the restaurant or generously serves true local product at a very affordable price. Thanks again for a great time!

  • Site loan of the stubbornness of one man, M Constant, who has devoted much of his life searched his ground, convinced to find the natural entrance of the cave of Lascaux located 800 m lower. He then dug in front of his house and discovered the burial of a man of Neanderthal and a bear. Suddenly we discover on the site of the brown bears reintroduced by M Constant who had the desire to give them the places. Our guide Emilie has made us the authenticity of this place with a passion in telling us the story of M Constant and we unveiling of endearing anecdotes on each of the bears. Our 2 children aged 7 and 1 1/2 were delighted.

  • Frankly it's not clean, and's it not. Guide interesting but not great thing to see in reality. And as to reintroduce bears to Lascaux why not but in a cage, I doubt the principle...

  • Interesting place to realize the stubbornness of an enthusiast to discover a 2nd entry for Lascaux. But here he falls on something else... a guide to the top (and ravissante😉) and managers (?) interesting and very good advice to go (as here) to of authentic. For the bear one may wonder what they are doing there, but understandably very quickly by discovering the life of this amateur archaeologist... a visit to do! Thank you.
