Le Regourdou serves as a museum, archeological dig site, and brown bear enclosure devoted to the Neanderthals who once inhabited the area. Discovered in the 1950s by property owner Roger Constant after a sinkhole formed, the site has become a treasure trove for archeologists. Here they reportedly discovered the oldest and most complete Neanderthal skeleton found in Europe, which dates back more than 90,000 years. They've also found a variety of tools and other artifacts, leading to a greater understanding of the early humans who lived here. Planning Lascaux trip won't be overwheling when you use's Insprock itinerary maker.

Wenn die Besucherströme weiterhin durch das Original geflossen wären, wären die Zeichnungen über kurz oder lang zerstört worden. Die Franzosen haben also die Notbremse gezogen, die Höhle dicht gemacht... more »If the flow of visitors were still flowed through the original, the drawings would be destroyed sooner or later. The French have so pulled the emergency brake, closed the cave and just rebuilt, and they did well, chapeau! The modern facility is designed to cope with the crowds of visitors, without that it occurs on the feet. The first part of the complex can be visited only in part of a guided tour. Here I recommend you to wait on the German leadership, really, because the vocabulary is very specific, too specific for my school French. Differs from the original is not visible, on the fact that the distances between the individual drawings require no long distances. Illegally secretly to photograph, not worth it, because after you get once again built up to see the sights and dipped in the best camera light. They has have to make very much money in the hand so that the entry of €16 per adult nose seems justified.

It is remarkable. A downside: the system of booking tours is very, very often broken and so come home hoping to get a place.
Aymeric ThillAugust 14, 2017Place really unique full of emotion and natural great people who live what they say contrary to what some may say this is absolutely not a tourist, especially at this price! Milo TindleAugust 13, 2017Interesting place to realize the stubbornness of an enthusiast to discover a 2nd entry for Lascaux. But here he falls on something else... a guide to the top (and ravissante😉) and managers (?) interesting and very good advice to go (as here) to of authentic. For the bear one may wonder what they are doing there, but understandably very quickly by discovering the life of this amateur archaeologist... a visit to do! Thank you.
Virginie GuillardAugust 12, 2017Thanks to the tour, the site is super interesting. We discover a little-known archaeological site public, but very interesting. Great nice guide that explains very well and very user-friendly.
Jérémy LictevoutAugust 8, 2017The installation is not the prettiest but snacks are not bad. The owner of the snack is none other than the person who takes care of the bears, a passionate and very nice gentleman!
