  • It must be said first that you have to be very careful to access the bridge if you go with small children. Ascension is a little complicated, but it can be, as in our case, with two children from 6 to 8 years. Firstly there is a parking area next to the road. Signage at all times to reach the place, very correct. Once you Park, there is an information panel and begin the ascent, at first very soft and with splendid views, encased in a Canyon along the river. At one point, at the beginning, there is a bridge with views of beautiful waterfalls. Once you explore this first section, the climb begins to be hard, with high humidity and paved. You are leaving the valley below, climbing up the left side of the barrel. This stretch is the most complicated. The trail becomes narrower, and you must climb the mountain. Once Ascend this stretch, the path is much more convenient since you've already promoted to the level of the bridge, and the tour is much more level. In total are 2 km away but in the conditions in which is is takes a bit to make them. And there is, the Holtzarte bridge with all its beauty. Crossing it is amazing. And looking down, with a depth of 250 metres, even more. A wonderful place. Of course it's route through the French Pyrenees, cannot be complete if you do not the other highlight of the area, the Gorge of Kakuetta.

  • We put our 19-month-old twins in the baby carriers and off we went! Steep and muddy (March 2017) but definitely doable. Get here. The mountains and rock formations, and the clear blue river and then o...  more »
  • Great hiking (12 kms) and scenery to discover after braving, for those who like me have Vertigo, the famous bridge!
