Create an itinerary including Chateau de Langeais
Surrounded by cedars and majestic redwoods, Chateau de Langeais is a medieval castle built in 992 CE by Fulk Nerra. Come to celebrate the wedding of Charles VIII and Anne of Brittany with realistic wax figures depicting their ceremony. Built on a promontory created by the small valley of the Roumer River at the opening to the Loire Valley, you will find a dungeon, playgrounds for your children, a gazebo with picnic areas, and a tree house. Audio commentary in English helps you relive the daily life of a medieval nobleman as well as learn about the furniture, tapestries, and works of art. • A lovely visit. The chateau isn't very large, but the visit is nice. The story of the marriage was excellent. The price is reasonable, especially given the activities included.

  • The castle is considered to be the oldest from France, even it suffered many maintenance works during time it is pleasant to be visited. There you can see also the remaining "walls" from an old chapel, dated 1000 years ago and the gardens. For us the visit took 2 h. The view is very nice from above, you can see a large and long bridge, the river Loire and the City. It is nice. I recommend it to be visited.
  • One of the few Chateaus that is dog friendly. You can take them inside and in the gardens. Smaller than the other grand chateaus though and simple garden. The entry wasn't step free. Also located in a cute town
  • The only working draw bridge in France. Very fun chateau in the middle of town. Sunday morning market is great!
  • It’s an ideal place for having fun with your small kid here in summertime. Before you go don’t forget to check their website for getting more information about the special activities!
  • We didn't tour the whole thing but the site is lovely and the view is great if you dit on the steps overlooking the square.
