Surrounded by cedars and majestic redwoods, Chateau de Langeais is a medieval castle built in 992 CE by Fulk Nerra. Come to celebrate the wedding of Charles VIII and Anne of Brittany with realistic wax figures depicting their ceremony. Built on a promontory created by the small valley of the Roumer River at the opening to the Loire Valley, you will find a dungeon, playgrounds for your children, a gazebo with picnic areas, and a tree house. Audio commentary in English helps you relive the daily life of a medieval nobleman as well as learn about the furniture, tapestries, and works of art. • This castle was given to the taste of the middle ages by its last owner and you can see his eyes and not in the books how lived the Lord and his family. We discover the secret half episode of the marriage of Anne of Brittany. Stones, floors and furniture back us at the time. The tour offers more details and stories than the sheets in free access but is not essential. The Tower of the castle in the passageway outside is nice and offers views of the surrounding area. Arrived at the opening or closing tours to see the lifting or lowering of the drawbridge still function.

  • A beautiful castle which allows to discover ancient tapestries. For the conservation of tapestries certainly, the castle is in the dark. Very few lights. The Park is large and nice (in good weather).

  • We enjoyed the visit to the castle of Langeais. In every room of the worksheets not too long support interest in the visit. This castle was fortunate to be purchased by J Siegfried, sound before the last owner, who worked a lot to its former glory. The choice of soil, mural decorations gives an atmosphere of time. A castle that is not worth visiting.

  • Very impressive Castle. The ruins in the garden (and the tree house) and view over the Loire should not be missed out. You can also bring a bottle of wine and have a picnic in the garden.
  • Nice Chateau, especially worth a visit when combined with the Sunday market. They have two daily activities: lifting the bridge and swords fight. Keep your ticket to get discount to other castles in the area.
  • Nice château to make part of a day trip. Cute village too, with delicious icecream
  • Stunning!! Loved it, 2nd pick after Villandry, well worth a visit, explore the town after or stay a day or two.
  • Very nice castle among the Loire Valley castles. In the heart of a medieval city, with a nice park and garden behind the walls. A lot of furniture, curtains, tableware, beds and so on. Not too big, but quite nice to visit. A real back-in-time feeling.
