Chateau de Langeais, Langeais

Historic Site · Tourist Spot
Surrounded by cedars and majestic redwoods, Chateau de Langeais is a medieval castle built in 992 CE by Fulk Nerra. Come to celebrate the wedding of Charles VIII and Anne of Brittany with realistic wax figures depicting their ceremony. Built on a promontory created by the small valley of the Roumer River at the opening to the Loire Valley, you will find a dungeon, playgrounds for your children, a gazebo with picnic areas, and a tree house. Audio commentary in English helps you relive the daily life of a medieval nobleman as well as learn about the furniture, tapestries, and works of art. • Very nice castle, where Anne marled Charles. The fee guided tour is well worth it. Also a booklet with some enigma activities for kids.  more »

  • The castle is very beautiful and well furnished, with many information in each room inside. The gardens are also very nice. The animations that they offer are great for kids and adults. The place is suitable for families.
  • On the way to ... we stopped by. A fantastic family experience. Right balance between culture, fantastic view over the city, activities and animation for children. The stop took a little bit longer than expected 😁
  • Tour of chateau is well signed, informative and interesting. Lot of focus on furniture and interior decoration but a reasonable amount on the history of the place and the "big" wedding.
  • A good chateau. Free parking on the right side (mostly occupied by locals though, hard to get a spot on weekend) Flyers in 8 languages in every room. A park inside with playgrounds for kids. Several shows included: performance (in French), falcons, smth else.
  • Very very nice. Lots of attractions to see and a very nicely out together display.
