Grottes de Lacave, Lacave
(4.3/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
After riding the small train into the Grottes de Lacave, continue your tour of the caves through Tarasque Hall, where rock formations evoke legendary animals. After crossing the Room of the Three Fates and the Snow Room, you'll see the immense stone called Our Lady of Lacave. When you reach the Hall of the Great Dome, the lakes become more numerous and the formations become more curious: A column looks like the legs of spiders, for example. The Mirage room offers the breathtaking spectacle of a mysterious underwater city. The greatest treasure of all is the Wonderland room, lit by dramatic black lights that animate it to appear like a living being. • Place to visit if you're in the area. Down in the caves by a small train. Then, a local guide explains how this environment was formed. This takes about 1 h 30. Fun, educational, and not expensive. Output to do best when the weather is bad.

  • The site of the caves of Lacave, in the Lot (46) is a very good example of the work of the ancient underground rivers in the limestone area of the France. Exceedingly well highlighted (lights, black light), presented in pleasant, fun and educational way by (local) guides that give the time visitors to soak up the magic of the place, the caves of Lacave, will give you an hour of calm and serenity. Plan a polar, as in all the caves, it's summer and winter 14 ° C. (by the way laura_gy, the Dordogne is the name of the neighbouring Department, here is the Lot, Quercy & the Valley of the Dordogne) Book your tickets online, you will earn €1 per person.
