  • We visited the Castle and its gardens in twice because of rain. We opted for the tour despite our fears because we are a family with two little girls of 6 and 4 years old. The guide has captured them as ours. The decoration is very successful. But the most beautiful is the walk in the gardens: in the English, French, exotic, romantic and Italian. The setting is wonderful at the edge of the river. I highly recommend

  • The atmosphere that reigns in the castle is not a Museum and gives the impression that it is still inhabited. The visit makes us travel for a few moments in the eighteenth century. The Park is beautiful with its different gardens that we discover one after the other during an energizing walk. I loved the garden and the bamboo at the edge of the river.

  • The place is well signposted on the road. Parking is available on-site. In fact the visit breaks down into two major parts. A guided tour of an hour and visit the gardens where you can hang out at our ease. At the historical level, very soon the village of Laas is known for the richness of his lordship. She comes from its rights to collect a royalty on the gave of Oloron. Subsequently, the lordship became one of the 14 baronies of Béarn from 1610 after the military services rendered by Jean de Laas alongside Henri Navarre 3 future Henri 4 King of France at the end of the 16th century. Over the generations, all will be transmitted for nearly two centuries. In 1806 and in 1946 several private owners will succeed. The last, Louis and Madeleine Serbat having no heir, have at heart to bequeath their property to the State in order to share their collection to the greatest number. Today ' today you can admire one of the finest collections of decorative arts of Aquitaine. Regarding the tour, she is very well. The guide is young and when he can't answer a question, he immediately tries to find out more. Inside all is well proportioned, with a layout done tastefully. The place is very well kept and we are far from dusty parts as can be seen in other places. I loved the bed where Napoleon slept the night of his defeat at Waterloo. There are also over the visit, Flemish and Dutch paintings by artist of the 17th century, but also Elisabeth Vigée the Brown French artist specializing in portraiture. There is also the time in earthenware or porcelain objects. In fact the wealth of the place is truly amazing and being reluctant to decorative art usually when it is exposed in a Museum, here it takes a different dimension. Once you have completed this first part, you can freely browse the gardens (12ha) and appreciate the place. In the English garden, worked to build cabins in the trees (available this summer). The French with their basins gardens are really beautiful. I loved the slightly Wilder part with the exotic garden and his bamboo. However during the visit the orchard is not an obligatory passage because there is not much to see. In conclusion this place is really a place to discover when you visit the region. Guided tour + visit the gardens amounts to € 8 for adults and € 3 in reduced rate. For a tour of the gardens only it costs € 3. More schedules have been changed compared to those sometimes found on the internet. The closure of the premises is now at 5.30 p.m. (instead of seven). To restore an area picnic is made available. Activities will be organized during the summer. An escape castle, game very fashionable in cities (escape game) will be offered as early as July. The Castle will be open to the European night of museums.
