Officially called the Dune of Pilat, this unique land mass located in Arcachon Bay is the tallest sand dune in Europe and a favorite site for hikers and windsurfers. Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and an enormous pine forest, this dune on a peninsula is one of the most unique landscapes in all of France. • We took a half day tour from Bordeaux to climb the Dune and then have some oysters and wine. Dune is a great site to see and the view from the top is worth the trip. Well worth the hour's drive from B...  read more »
  • When we get up there, we does not tire of admiring the landscape. You sit on the sand and we contemplate... We're good, that's all.

  • A little sporty but the game is worth the candle, the view is superb. We went through the back of the dune (there is less to ride) and back down from the front.

  • Beautiful views and well worth the effort. The less fit members of the party may take a little while to do the climb, at least there is a flight of stairs for those unable to climb up the steep side of the dune.
  • I have never seen such a beautiful naturally made place. The dunes are incredible and go on for miles. The views of the sea and Arcachon are gorgeous. Another must see!
  • It's so beautiful. You really must go if you are around. My only complaint is that you have to pay to park and then walk through a row of cheap souvenir shops and cafés. I don't like the commercialization of such a beautiful natural place
  • Best experience ever!! The most fun you can have in Western France. And also a very romantic place.
  • Very good and highly recommended. Great day out and place to relax. Cool hotel and outdoor bars nearby too!
