Where to stay in La Rochelle

To discover La Rochelle's rich architectural heritage, book your rooms at a stylish hotel near the city's picturesque old harbor. From there, you can easily explore the city's oldest areas, while remaining within easy walking distance of modern tourist attractions, such as the aquarium and natural history museum. If you're travelling on a limited budget, consider staying farther away from the old harbor, where you can choose from a selection of small inns, private B&Bs, and good-value hostels.

  • This is not the NH museum of New York or London, that is clear, however, as far as regional museums of this type go, it is excellent. The displays are clearly labelled (in French) and the variety and quality of the displays are excellent. However, the lack of language translations and the absence of a themed sequence might make the museum more suitable for the ardent enthusiast than for the casual passerby.
  • We visited the museum 2 years ago while there was a taxidermy exposition going on. Mind blowing! They managed to put together an amazing collection. The park behind the museum was nice as well.
  • it was great free money should try it out if looking for an intersting place
  • We visited in May. Beautiful museum, on several floors, very accessible, even with pushchair or wheelchair because it is equipped with a lift. Ideal when it rains or it's too hot (air-conditioned!). The team is friendly, smiling and friendly. We went there with the children, they enjoyed! Great diversity of animals, the exposure of the monsters is cool, the expo on the African country also. Quite decent price (Reduction if aquarium ticket). Discover! Downside: to Park, with the work and the new regulation, a bit complicated, the best being to go on foot.
