  • Unthinkable to be able to make a bunker in the city center in the attention. See for information and do not forget.

  • place to be for the "ferrus" of history on World War II and also the history of La Rochelle; an unusual place to discover absolutely.

  • Very interesting place that documents the life in La Rochelle during the Nazi occupation. Unfortunately, al the information is in French only.
  • A very interesting museum that takes visitors through recreations of life during WWII, including the lives of German soldiers stationed in La Rochelle who were the inhabitants of the titular bunker. Though everything is in French, guests can request a written museum guide in English. The museum is full of artifacts and interesting fun facts. (For example, did you know that La Rochelle became the site of two iconic movies, Das Boot and Raiders of the Lost Ark?) Note that this museum is located in the heart of historic La Rochelle and has NOTHING to do with the concrete submarine bases built out by the harbor. These are closed to the public. Rather, the term "bunker" refers to the structure built under a city hotel to protect German soldiers and officers from Allied bombings, in which the museum is now located.

  • The Bunker, near the market, reflects the German occupation during the second world war. The staging of different parts gives the impression that the Germans come just to leave.
