Château de La Roche-Guyon, La Roche-Guyon

4.3
The tenth-century builders of Château de La Roche-Guyon dug the castle into a limestone cliff that overlooks the Seine. It was impossible to see the castle from the river, yet the castle had a wide view of the valley--making it an ideal defensive structure for medieval warfare. The manor house that stands today was built in the 12th century and continued to serve this purpose right up through World War II, when German Field Marshall Rommel made the castle his headquarters. Today, it serves as a museum with guided tours. Use our La Roche-Guyon route planner to arrange your visit to Château de La Roche-Guyon and other attractions in La Roche-Guyon.

Sublime Castle, but very poor in decoration, I recommend the very beautiful garden in front of the Seine, a lovely typical town, c ' is to see l ' outside, the entry price is too high for not much to see.

Honestly, this castle is worth a visit! In addition, with a guide, who was perfect on the line, I learned many things about the history of this castle! This place to him alone recounts everything that happened during the last centuries! do not hesitate to stop to visit.

We visited the castle during the heritage days and were able to benefit from the tariff reduced to two euros. Fortunately, because in our eyes the activity does not have the usual 7.50 euros. However enjoyed the troglodytic constructions as well as the views of the surroundings.

Stumbled across this gem on the way back from Giverny. Was on the fence about paying the entrance fee, glad I did. This place rules. Great views at the top and an all around adventure. Could easily spend a day in the area.

Excellent place to see. This visit had a very interesting exhibition of chairs from recent times back several hundred years. Cool seeing them in the expansive space of the chateau . The climb to the top of the top of the tower is a good workout! Well worth the time spent!!
